Geographical position
It is located 29 km west of the center of Izhevsk. Next to it passes the Nylginsky tract, which separates Postol from the Middle Postol. The river Postolka flows through the village.
Before the revolution, Postol was part of the Sarapulsky district of the Vyatka province. According to the tenth revision in 1859, 356 people lived in 63 courtyards of the state-owned village of Upper Postol near the Postolka River, 3 mills worked.
In 1920, the village was included in the newly formed Votskaya Autonomous District. In 1925, the Srednepostolsky village council was formed, the center of which was Sredny Postol.
By that time, Upper Postol was divided into two villages: Postol Upper Nagorny (or simply Nagorny Postol) and Postol Upper Zarechny (Zarechny Postol), located on different banks of the Postolka River. By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Court of the Ukrainian Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic of 1956, instead of the polynomial names of one village - Upper Postol and Nagorny Postol - the name Postol was left.
