S7 Group expects to be the first in Russia to completely renew its fleet of medium-haul aircraft and switch to the latest generation Airbus and Boeing aircraft. The country's largest private air group plans to withdraw the A320ceo and Boeing 737NG from the fleet and start flying only the A320neo and Boeing 737MAX by 2024, the Vedomosti newspaper reports, citing Grigory Davydov, deputy general director of the S7 Group.

Today, the fleet of the S7 Group, which includes S7 Airlines (Siberia; flies on the Airbus A320 and regional Embraer 170 family aircraft) and Globus (operates the Boeing 737NG), has 91 aircraft, including 74 mainline Airbus and Boeing. Of these, 10 narrow-body aircraft are of the new generation: eight A320neo, as well as one A321neo and one each. Until the end of 2020, S7 will accept 32 more aircraft under operating lease: 19 A320neo, 3 A321neo, .

The Group is the first Russian recipient of A320neo and Boeing 737MAX aircraft. At the same time, it is noted that S7 has changed its approach to contracting aircraft and now leases them for two years (apparently, we are talking about leasing contracts with the possibility of extension). Among the advantages that such a position provides is protection from an excess fleet when the market falls, as well as the possibility of obtaining aircraft in improved modifications. In particular, Airbus recently certified a version of the A321LR (long range), designed to carry up to 240 passengers. against 230 in the basic configuration. A further increase in capacity was also not ruled out.

Taking into account the withdrawal of part of the Airbus and Boeing aircraft of the current generation and the receipt of the latest remotorized aircraft, the S7 fleet will increase to 103 aircraft by the end of 2019 (however, this figure may be adjusted depending on market conditions). The high cost of leasing payments for new aircraft will be compensated by the fuel efficiency of the machines (the cost of jet fuel today already accounts for all the costs of airlines).

Thanks to the use of new generation aircraft, less time will be spent on maintenance of aircraft (by the way, the provider S7 Technics, which is part of the group, has permission to service remotorized narrow-body aircraft and Airbus), which, accordingly, will become one of the factors for increasing flight hours. Thus, it is planned to operate the Boeing 737MAX with a record intensity of 16 hours 40 minutes per day compared to 14 hours 10 minutes per day on the Boeing 737NG. For comparison: last year, the Russian low-cost carrier Pobeda was the world leader in flying Boeing 737NG, flying on each aircraft of this type for 15-16 hours a day.

Previously, the potential possibility of a complete transition to the latest generation narrow-body aircraft was announced by Ural Airlines. This airline announced plans to replenish the fleet with aircraft of the family

Aircraft

S7 Airlines uses new aircraft only from foreign manufacturers due to savings on fuel and maintenance. The air fleet consists of 100 aircraft: Airbus (56 liners), Airbus A320neo (17 liners). Boeing (23 aircraft) and Embraer (17 aircraft). On average, aircraft serve the airline for 10 years.

S7 Airlines, together with Tolmachevo Airport, presented the first Embraer E170 regional aircraft in the airline's fleet. This aircraft is twice a pioneer: it was the first to try on the updated livery of S7 Airlines.

↓ 2. We go out to the platform, hurry to the Embraer parking lot, and someone is in a hurry to Sochi. Cool registration for this Tu-204 is RA-64046.

↓ 3. As if for comparison, I came across a new livery of Rossiya Airlines. Boeing 737-800 (VQ-BWJ).

↓ 4. Here it is, the first "Siberian" Embraer Е170LR (VQ-BBO). I wonder whose livery update caused more resonance - "Russia" or S7?

↓ 5. For BBO's letters registration number the plane has already managed to get the nickname "Baba Olya" from the spotters.

↓ 6. However, “Baba Olya” is only 13 years old, is this a grandmother? :)

↓ 7. Embraer E170 is a Brazilian-made medium-haul passenger aircraft. This board (VQ-BBO) was built in 2004, before S7 flew in two American airlines. made its first commercial flight with S7 Airlines on the Novosibirsk-Tyumen-Salekhard route. The aircraft is based in Novosibirsk. This year, S7 will receive 16 more Embraers, Tolmachevo and Pulkovo will become their bases.

↓ 8. Boeing 737-800 (VQ-BRR). Couldn't get past. :)

↓ 9. We climb aboard.

↓ 10. Salon for 78 seats. “No one likes middle seats, so we got rid of them,” Embraer says on its website. You sit either by the window or by the aisle.

↓ 11. And in the cockpit it is always at the window and at the aisle. It pays to be a pilot :)

↓ 12. According to the Tolmachevo website, S7 plans to fly E170 from Novosibirsk to Omsk, Gorno-Altaisk, Abakan, Novy Urengoy, Noyabrsk and other cities. “The Embraer 170 is the optimal capacity aircraft for such flights. With his help, we summer season open a large number of new destinations from Novosibirsk, which organically complement our route network. When compiling the schedule, we took into account convenient connections in Novosibirsk, so that passengers from these cities could get access to Russian and foreign cities route network S7 Airlines,” Anton Eremin, General Director of S7 Group, said at a press conference.

↓ 13. I asked Sveta to pose a little at the entrance to the liner. Sveta, thanks! :)

↓ 14. Positive team. Tanya, hi! :)

↓ 17. S7 became the first E170 operator in Russia, earlier, Saratov Airlines began operating E-Jet family aircraft, but their E195 is a larger, but less long-range version. Embraer E170 can carry up to 80 passengers over a distance of up to 3900 km (3982), E195 - up to 124 passengers over a distance of up to 3350 km.

↓ 18. Passengers take their seats. There were many people.

↓ 19. Someone managed to take a picture in front of the plane.

↓ 20. The boarding of passengers is over, and we are going to the runway on the apron bus - we need to have time to take a point from where it will be possible to film the take-off of the Embraer. Until he swept past this point. :)

↓ 21. Military An-12BK (RF-90921) went to training.

↓ 22. A320 (VQ-BQN) of Ural Airlines arrived from Vladivostok. As one of my colleagues noted, the airline's logo is three Nike logos. And you can't argue. :)

↓ 23. An-26 (RF-36166) Russian Air Force.

↓ 24. Flew away, but promised to return. With 16 relatives. :) The production of E-Jets continues, in total 1317 aircraft have been built since 2001 (data as of the end of March 2017).

↓ 25. May 8, just such a stele "Aviators" was opened in Tolmachevo. It is located in the transition between the terminals of domestic and international airlines.

Russia approached World War I with the largest air fleet. But big things start small. And today we want to talk about the very first Russian aircraft.

Aircraft Mozhaisky

The monoplane of Rear Admiral Alexander Mozhaisky became the first aircraft built in Russia and one of the first in the world. The construction of the aircraft began with a theory and ended with the construction of a working model, after which the project was approved by the War Department. Steam engines designed by Mozhaisky were ordered from the English firm Arbecker-Hamkens, which led to the disclosure of the secret - the drawings were published in the journal Engineering in May 1881. It is known that the airplane had propellers, a fabric-covered fuselage, a wing covered with balloon silk, a stabilizer, elevators, a keel and landing gear. The weight of the aircraft was 820 kilograms.
The tests of the aircraft took place on July 20, 1882 and were unsuccessful. The airplane was dispersed on inclined rails, after which it rose into the air, flew several meters, fell on its side and fell, breaking its wing.
After the accident, the military lost interest in development. Mozhaisky tried to modify the airplane, ordered more powerful engines. However, in 1890 the designer died. The military ordered the plane to be removed from the field, and its further fate is unknown. Steam engines were stored for some time at the Baltic Shipyard, where they burned down in a fire.

Aircraft Kudashev

The first Russian aircraft to be successfully tested was a biplane designed by design engineer Prince Alexander Kudashev. He built the first gasoline-powered aircraft in 1910. On tests, the airplane flew 70 meters and landed safely.
The mass of the aircraft was 420 kilograms. The wingspan covered with rubberized fabric is 9 meters. The Anzani engine installed on the aircraft had a power of 25.7 kW. On this plane, Kudashev managed to fly only 4 times. During the next landing, the airplane crashed into a fence and broke.
After Kudashev designed three more modifications of the aircraft, each time lightening the design and increasing the power of the engine.
"Kudashev-4" was demonstrated at the first Russian International Aeronautical Exhibition in St. Petersburg, where it received a silver medal from the Imperial Russian Technical Society. The aircraft could reach speeds of 80 km / h and had a 50 hp engine. The fate of the airplane was sad - it was smashed at aviators' competitions.

"Russia-A"

The biplane "Russia-A" was released in 1910 by the "First All-Russian Association of Aeronautics".
It was built on the basis of Farman's airplane design. At the III International Automobile Exhibition in St. Petersburg, he received a silver medal of the Military Ministry and was bought by the All-Russian Imperial Aero Club for 9 thousand rubles. A curious detail: up to this point, he had not even risen into the air.
From the French aircraft "Russia-A" was distinguished by a high-quality finish. Wings and plumage were covered with double-sided, the Gnome engine had 50 hp. and accelerated the plane to 70 km / h.
Flight tests were carried out on August 15, 1910 at the Gatchina airfield. And the plane flew over two kilometers. In total, 5 copies of "Russia" were built.

"Russian Knight"

Biplane "Russian Knight" became the world's first four-engine aircraft designed for strategic reconnaissance. The history of heavy aviation began with him.
The designer of the Vityaz was Igor Sikorsky.
The aircraft was built at the Russian-Baltic Carriage Works in 1913. The first model was called "Grand" and had two motors. Later, Sikorsky placed four 100 hp motors on the wings. each. In front of the cockpit was a platform with a machine gun and a searchlight. The aircraft could lift 3 crew members and 4 passengers into the air.
On August 2, 1913, the Vityaz set a world flight duration record - 1 hour 54 minutes.
"Vityaz" crashed at the competition of military aircraft. The motor fell out of the flying Meller II and damaged the plane of the biplane. It was not restored. On the basis of the Vityaz, Sikorsky designed a new aircraft, the Ilya Muromets, which became the national pride of Russia.

"Sikorsky S-16"

The aircraft was developed in 1914 by order of the Military Department and was a biplane with an 80 hp Ron engine, which accelerated the C-16 to 135 km / h.
The operation revealed the positive qualities of the aircraft, mass production was started. At first, the S-16 served to train pilots for the Ilya Muromets, in World War I it was equipped with a Vickers machine gun with a Lavrov synchronizer and used for reconnaissance and bomber escort.
The first air combat of the S-16 took place on April 20, 1916. On that day, ensign Yuri Gilsher shot down an Austrian aircraft from a machine gun.
C-16 quickly fell into disrepair. If at the beginning of 1917 there were 115 aircraft in the "Squadron of Airships", then by the autumn there were 6 of them. The remaining aircraft fell to the Germans, who handed them over to Hetman Skoropadsky, and then went to the Red Army, but some of the pilots flew to the Whites. One C-16 was included in the aviation school in Sevastopol.
