A little history of the village of Bagripsh
According to archival materials of the last century, the name of this settlement is based on the noble family name Baӷ (Baӷ-ba or Abaӷ-ba), which means “the land of the Baӷovs” or “the gorge of the Baӷovs,” where Baӷ is the basis of the name of the clan Baӷ-ba (in translation - “Their edge”). First, about the boarding house itself, then some useful tips.
1. The structure and location of the boarding house: located on the slope of a mountain range, very close to the boarding house "Bagripsh", a little further and higher - "Solnechny". It consists of three buildings plus a separate administration building with a canteen. The rooms vary in amenities; it is better to choose ones with air conditioning and a private bathroom. Our room had a simple but clean renovation, but the overall impression was “remnants of the Soviet past.” The descent to the sea is short and close - on foot along the path or by elevator from "Bagripsh" to the road, then through the underground passage. There is a railway nearby, but it does not cause any inconvenience.
2. Beach: clean, pebble, small. There are only a few "loungers", so take a beach mat with you - it will come in handy. The water is clean, but may be a little cloudy after a thunderstorm or storm. There are benches with souvenirs and fruits on the road and near the beach. Entertainment options include a water scooter, banana, and cheesecake. Occasionally a corn trader and a photographer with a monkey and a parrot pass by.
3. Meals: three times a day, hearty, simple. All food was stewed or boiled, not spicy, mothers fed their children without any problems. Fruits include melon slices or apples. Fruits can be bought in local shops, very tasty, but catastrophically expensive! More expensive than in Russia...
4. Service: here is a clear gap (as I understand it, this is all over Abkhazia) - linen and towels were not changed for all 12 days, I handed the garbage to the maid myself. And bring toilet paper with you - here you also have to beg for it, and it’s grey, low quality, I bought it in a store. They say everything is fine with hot water, but a couple of times in the morning I couldn’t wash myself. Those who are used to Turkey and Egypt will not like the service, but here is one simple piece of advice common to everyone - smile, be friendly and there will be no problems.
5. Leisure: walk to the Solnechny boarding house, take the elevator - it’s very beautiful there, further up you can walk to the Stalin Dacha. Entrance 250 rubles, excursion from the boarding house -300 rubles.
There are concerts and concerts in "Bagripsha", there is also a night bar (by the way, the music is very audible in the rooms). It is also interesting to get up and walk around the local village.
Excursions are offered at the boarding house itself, at 7 pm, Akhra will be waiting for you in the dining room. I really liked the excursions, but there are some nuances - the price of the excursion does not include lunch (but you will definitely be taken to a local cafe), entrances to monasteries, payment for photography, tasting of wine, honey (also required in every excursion), additional places to visit (the village of Lykhny , Milk waterfall, rock climbing, etc.). Therefore, take with you more money, water, fruits and vegetables for a snack (once we got by with them instead of lunch).
These are the main points, the overall impression is positive, the nature is amazing, the sea is much cleaner and more pleasant. Abkhazia is definitely better than our south.

- do not give in to the persuasion of taxi drivers - wait for minibuses (signed PSOU and GAGRA) and you will get a ride for 50-70 rubles.
