You can plot a route for your car by entering the name of the place from where you want to leave and where to get there. Enter the names of points in the nominative case and in full, with the name of the city or region separated by a comma. Otherwise, the online route map may show the wrong path.

The free Yandex map contains detailed information about the selected area, including the boundaries of regions, territories and regions of Russia. In the “layers” section, you can switch the map to “Satellite” mode, then you will see a satellite image of the selected city. The “People's Map” layer shows metro stations, airports, names of neighborhoods and streets with house numbers. This is an online interactive map - it cannot be downloaded.

Nearest hotels (hotels, hostels, apartments, guest houses)

View all hotels in the area on the map

Five nearby hotels are shown above. Among them there are both regular hotels and hotels with several stars, as well as cheap accommodation - hostels, apartments and guest houses. These are usually private economy class mini-hotels. The hostel is a modern hostel. An apartment is a private apartment for daily rent, and a guest house is a large private house, where the owners themselves usually live and rent out rooms for guests. You can rent a guest house with an all-inclusive service, a bathhouse and other attributes of a good holiday. Check with the owners for details here.

Usually hotels are located closer to the city center, including inexpensive ones, near the metro or train station. But if this is a resort area, then the best mini-hotels, on the contrary, are located further from the center - on the seashore or river bank.

The city of Chonburi in Thailand is the capital of the province of the same name, Chonburi. By the way, our long-suffering Pattaya is located there, which we chose as a place of “temporary residence” and a starting route for travel. And I would hardly have made it to the provincial capital if it weren’t for the adventure, which suddenly turned into an adventure and a journey. As a result, we spent three unforgettable days here with the whole renewed family.

Chonburi city, Thailand. The capital of Chonburi Province.

How to get to Chonburi, as well as a brief overview of hotels and prices for housing for rent from me. In the meantime, I’ll tell you everything I saw, learned and noticed during my short stay in this interesting town.

Help about Chonburi

Chon Buri roughly translates to "city of water". Chonburi was granted city status only in 1935. However, the settlement was founded at a time when Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Siam, was flourishing, i.e. since the 17th century. The symbol of the city of Chonburi is a three-masted merchant ship: the province itself, like its capital, is located on the shores of the Gulf of Thailand.

Coat of arms of the city of Chonburi, Thailand

The local port is of great importance in organizing trade with other regions of Thailand. The city of Chonburi is also the industrial and agricultural center of the country.
The ubiquitous Wikipedia claims that in 2006 there were 180 thousand Chonburians. And over the past 9 years, no one has probably shown the enthusiasm to count the city's residents again. I sincerely hope that the nice Chonburi guys have prospered and multiplied during this time...

Is it worth it for tourists drive to Chonburi

What can we say about the city of Chonburi as a tourist destination? Probably nothing.
Seriously! The city is like an ordinary more or less large Thai city:

  • on every corner,
  • twelve Buddhist temples,
  • two Catholic churches,
  • five schools,
  • Thai universities,
  • five public parks,
  • several stadiums, open-air gyms, large plants and factories,
  • long promenade of Chonburi,
  • hotels, condominiums,
  • my favorite authentic ones
  • busy port.

If there is something in this list of exciting attractions that has piqued your interest, then feel free to go to this settlement. I offer a few photos of Chonburi with its streets and back streets. If my photos of the capital of Viktoralekseich’s native province are not enough, you can, in the company of Google, right now have a fun stroll along the Chonburi embankment in the Chonburi Municipality Stadium area - Chonburi Municipal Stadium, I’m not afraid of this phrase.

Chonburi embankment, Gulf of Thailand. Thai schoolchildren.

What seemed more interesting to me than the tourist attractions were the people in Chonburi, the mood of this city, its unique Thai-Thai atmosphere. This perfectly illustrates the statement that, they say, Pattaya, Phuket and other resorts in Thailand are not quite Thailand yet.
There is almost no smell of tourism in Chonburi, especially foreign tourism. But here there is a breath of business, trade, education - in general, the breath of a big city, only in Thailand. There are few European or other overseas cafes and restaurants, and special attractions for tourists like the Alcazar show in Pattaya. No tropical gardens like Nong Nooch or parks like Mini Siam, etc. here, too, they do not try to surprise visiting travelers.

Establishment in Chonburi

After a couple of years in Pattaya, we felt strange in Chonburi. Local Thais behave calmly and reservedly; the sight of a farang walking down the street does not evoke any emotion in them. Like, what a miracle - a white-skinned man is walking! Even motorbikers at intersections do not try to clap their hands invitingly and offer: “Taxi motorbike?”

But we didn’t detect any hostile attitude either. However, the difficulty of communicating in English is especially relevant here.

Chonburi is a city in Thailand that is as far removed from tourism as, for example, Tver or Omsk in Russia. Active life is in full swing here, which is in no way interesting to the average package tourist.

Exotic building even by local standards, Chonburi

If we expand on the inappropriate comparison between the Thais of Chonburi and the Thais of Pattaya, it would be necessary to clarify that there are not so many “real” Thais in Pattaya. Because hard-working Asians from neighboring, less economically fortunate Laos, Burma and Cambodia, come in a cheerful crowd and on a regular basis to the largest resort in Southeast Asia to also collect their crumbs from the giant tourist pie.

But for those who want to look at the life of the most ordinary Thais, without excesses of authenticity, their modern way of life, which is not affected by the patina of the tourist industry, it is worth going to the city of Chonburi for a day or two. Personally, it was very interesting and unusual for me to do my favorite thing - to observe, notice and think why everything here is the way it is and not otherwise.

If you're based in or Bangkok, I'd recommend putting together an itinerary of places like: Bang Saen, Sriracha, Chon Buri, Bangkok or Pattaya, maybe Rayong - it all depends on how far you decide to go.

Such streets also exist in Chonburi

Is it worth buying property in Chonburi

If you are going to buy real estate in Thailand and are choosing a city for this, you can consider Chonburi - a significant business center of the country, after all. But there are several important points to consider.
Let's say you bought an apartment or house in Chonburi for the purpose of enrichment. In this city, domestic or business tourism is mainly relevant. To rent out Thai housing, you will have to deal with Thais or foreign farang businessmen. Think about how good your English and Thai are for this? True, you can use Airbnb and greatly simplify the process of getting rich in an apartment in Thailand, even in the Chon Buri region.

One of the city parks in Chonburi

Let's say you decide to move to Thailand for permanent residence. It seems to you that the Russian community of Pattaya, Phuket and other Khaukhins is not comme il faut for you, that you are above all this, and you want “total immersion” in Thai life. You shouldn't laugh - there are more and more such beech among us)) And, reading this article, for example, you realized: here it is, paradise without nasty compatriots! This is where you should definitely buy an apartment in Thailand!..
If all this sounds like you, I have three questions.

  • Are you really sure that living constantly surrounded by Thais, who mostly speak poor English, is normal for you?

This is not the village of Bang Lamung: even authentic stand-up comedians are available

  • If so, you're probably running a remote job or business. If not, do you need a job in Thailand?
  • If you need employment in the sub-equators, you probably speak good English and Thai and are some kind of high-level specialist. Otherwise, why should you be welcome in one of the business centers of Siam? It’s the same as a Chinese person without English or Russian hoping for a warm welcome and employment in Yekaterinburg...

This concludes my mini-test. The decision to buy a home in Chonburi is yours.
You can rent a house in Chonburi for about the same money as you can rent an apartment in Pattaya. So, clean studios in new ones cost from 5-6 thousand baht per month.

A few words about Chonburi Hospital - Chonburi Municipality Hospital

Chonburi Municipal Hospital is a large serious hospital with surgery, therapeutic, dental and other departments and a good maternity hospital. Modern equipment, qualified doctors.

Chonburi city, Thailand. View from Chonburi Hospital window

Doctors speak good or passable English, and some nurses do too. I will always remember my head nurse at the maternity hospital: the girl was born and raised on the island, then studied medicine in Chonburi and, it seems, spoke English much better than me.

Chonburi city, one of the buildings of Chonburi Hospital

She was such a caring sister - a real Mother Teresa in her youth!
The disadvantage of Chonburi Municipality Hospital is that there are long queues, a constant flow of patients, and there are often not enough places in the wards or medical workers.

Chonburi, near Chonburi Municipal Hospital

But the service is very, very cheap: even cheaper than in Pattaya, whose level and scope are incomparably lower than the hospital in Chonburi. The capital of the province, after all! Regional center, something like that...

With wishes of a fair breeze, interesting trips and new discoveries, sincerely yours, traveling Marta

If you want not only to visit the sea, but also to have an active and interesting holiday, Chonburi province- the place you are looking for. Actively developing tourism and infrastructure make holidays here very comfortable, and entertainment can be found for every taste.

The provincial capital is the city Chonburi, not far from which is Bang Saen Beach.

Beaches of Chonburi

Of course, the main reason why tourists come to Chonburi province is the warm sea and beaches.

The most famous beach resort in the province Chonburi is certainly . Unfortunately, lately there have been more and more reports of dirty sand, garbage and bad-smelling water. If this is really important to you, you can find several ways out of the situation.

If you primarily live in Pattaya, choose places as far from the center as possible. It is located two kilometers away - there the sea is much cleaner, and you can practice various water sports. And it is best to go on vacation to the neighboring island (Koh Larn), nicknamed Coral Island. There is always clear water and well-developed infrastructure.

Bang Saen

Not so touristy, but no less beautiful place. There are few tourists and a very calm atmosphere. This is a place to relax and unwind; you won't find any noisy bars here. Additional advantages are low prices and proximity to the Ang Sila fish market. The only negative is the influx of Thais on weekends. Please note that it is difficult to meet not only Russians, but also English-speaking people here.

There are two zoos in Pattaya: Sriracha Tiger Zoo and Khao Kheow Tiger Zoo. The first shows a variety of shows, each lasting 20 minutes. You can see crocodiles, elephants, watch pig races, take pictures with a tiger. You should set aside 3 hours for the visit. The second zoo has a greater variety of animals; you can see an exotic sloth and feed the animals by hand.

Attractions of Bang Saen

While in Bang Saen, it's worth visiting the 133-year-old Ang Sila market. Here you can buy everything from fresh seafood to stone mortars and souvenirs. Also a famous attraction is the Institute of Marine Science. This is a great place to visit with your children, walking through the glass tunnel and watching the fish.

In the Hell Gardens of Wang Saen Suk, you can see statues showing all types of sin, as well as the consequences of various punishments and tortures from the past. If you want to find out what sins mean, set aside an hour and a half for your visit.

Things to do in Chonburi

If you want extreme sensations, you can climb the hotel tower to descend from the 53rd floor on a rope. Tourists who don't want to jump from a height of 200 meters can simply admire the views.

Daeng Beach is one of the smallest and most deserted beaches on Koh Larn.

It is located in the north of the island and does not have a developed infrastructure - there is only one cafe on the territory, and there is also a rental of sun loungers and umbrellas. The beach shore is sandy, about 200 meters long and 30-40 meters wide. It is better to swim here during high tides, as during low tides the bottom becomes too dirty to be seen.

The sign indicating the path to the beach says Ta-Yaiy Beach, but on the island of Koh Larn everyone calls it Daeng Beach. Daeng Beach is a beautiful and calm place where you can enjoy picturesque nature and silence.

Tawaen Beach

Tawaen Beach is the most crowded and largest beach on Koh Larn.

Ferries sail to Tawaen Pier every day from Pattaya and return back after midnight. There are many free sun loungers on the beach, and umbrellas and towels are available for rental. On the shore of Tawaen there are small shops that sell clothes - swimsuits, sunglasses, pareos and summer shoes. The beach has showers and toilets, many restaurants and cafes serving European and Thai cuisine.

On the territory there are pharmacies open until the evening, a police station and a first-aid post. Popular entertainment options on Tawaen include diving, banana boat rides, jet skis and scooters. The beach has smooth golden sand without pebbles or corals, which eliminates the risk of injury.

Thian Beach

Thian Beach is one of the most picturesque and secluded beaches on Koh Larn.

During the low season there are usually few visitors here, so from April to October the place is empty or becomes a haven for couples. The territory of Thian Beach is equipped with all amenities: there are shops, souvenir shops and cafes, showers and picnic areas. The beach offers rental of umbrellas, sun loungers and beach accessories.

The water here is clean and azure in color, so many tourists like to go diving on Thian Beach and enjoy the beauty of the aquatic world. It is believed that off the coast of Thian Beach there are the most beautiful coral reefs on the entire island of Koh Larn and a large number of exotic fish.

Thong Lang Beach

Thong Lang is often compared to Tawaen, as it is also a large and well-equipped beach.

Thong Lang is located near Tawaen, but is not as popular as its neighbor. There are many amenities on the beach: sun loungers, umbrellas, showers, awnings, grocery stores and cafes. Here you can rent a scooter or motorbike, buy or rent sports equipment, and also stay overnight in one of the small bungalows.

There is a steep road leading to the beach, and the bottom of the shore is too rocky - these are perhaps the only disadvantages of Thong Lang. Tourists here are usually Chinese, but sometimes there are also Russian vacationers.

Bangsaen Beach

This little piece of paradise is hidden from tourist attention. Bangsaen Beach, located an hour's drive from Bangkok and 10 kilometers from the provincial capital Chonburi, is visited mainly on weekends by Thai families seeking relaxation from everyday work. And once upon a time it was quite a popular place among the elite of Bangkok.

There are many bars and restaurants with a relaxed atmosphere. Local vendors offer fresh fruit, seafood and snacks, and you can rent sunbeds, colorful umbrellas and other beach accessories. There is a shower on site. Inexpensive hotels and bungalows are quite capable of satisfying those who want to stay here longer than one day.

Nearby attractions include the Marine Aquarium and Museum, as well as an ancient temple. The city hosts a weekly Sunday fair, which also operates at night, when prices are much lower than during the day.
