In summer, Shchelkino is a continuous entertainment and recreation area, the center of which is the sea coast. Clean transparent sea, magnificent sand beach, one of the best in the Crimea, a sandy bottom and warm sand on the banks of the Azov - all this splendor, as if specially created by nature, is conducive to a peaceful holiday with friends or surrounded by your family. The water temperature in the Sea of Azov in summer is higher than in the Black Sea, which allows your children to splash in the water for hours, and you to sunbathe on the sand only occasionally while keeping an eye on your child. The closest houses from the beach in Shchelkino are located just a 2-3 minute walk; from the furthest ones you can leisurely walk to the sea in 10-15 minutes. At the height of the season, it is quite densely packed in the area around the city limits, but if you move 200-300 meters away, you can always find a free place.
Beach "Tatarka"
It is located in a long golden thread along the entire Kazantip Bay, its length is about 25-30 kilometers. The beach is dominated by sand and small shells. In the midst summer season on Tatarka you may not meet a single person for several kilometers.
It got its name from Tatarskaya Bay, which is located at the foot of the Kazantip nature reserve.
In the area of the village of Mysovoye, on the beach, there are quite a lot of sunbathers, many private boarding houses and guest houses have been built in the village itself, and a few cafes are located on the coastal area.
You can get to Tatarka from Shchelkino on foot in 20-30 minutes, by taxi, in the summer there is a bus and a minibus.
Beaches of Shirokaya Bay and Cosmonauts Bay
These beaches are located approximately 7-8 kilometers from Shchelkino and are located in close proximity to each other, they are not as large as those described above, but they charm with their privacy and distance from the city. The beaches located in these bays are cut off from the world on both sides by the low cliffs of the Arabat Bay and create a pleasant romantic atmosphere.
In Shirokaya Bay there are several small boarding houses - an ideal place for those who want to relax from the bustle of the city in complete silence, enjoying only the sound of the sea and the cry of seagulls. You can also rent a dacha for relaxation in the nearby dacha cooperative of the same name.
In Cosmonauts Bay you can camp with a tent and enjoy the silence and complete privacy in harmony with nature, admiring the unforgettable sea sunset and listening to the sounds of cicadas under the huge and bright Crimean stars.
Beaches of the Kazantip Nature Reserve
There are miniature “pocket” beaches along the entire perimeter of the reserve; getting down to them from the cliffs of Kazantip is sometimes difficult, and visiting this territory is only possible with the permission of the reserve administration. The coastal zone of the beaches is sandy and shell-like, with stones scattered everywhere and sometimes huge boulders torn off from the rocks of Kazantip. The bottom of these beaches is mostly rocky, one careless movement or rough seas and you can be seriously injured by underwater rocks or shells clinging to them. For that, here you can truly retire in peace and quiet from the noise and bustle that constantly surrounds us and enjoy the fantastic, bizarre piles of rocks, from which the sea and wind sometimes create incredible and mysterious sculptures.

Each room has WiFi. All rooms have mosquito nets on the windows. The private sector area is very quiet, there are many plants and trees. Shchelkino is a city not far from Kerch. Take the Moscow-Kerch train to the Seven Wells stop. Afterwards, it’s about 10 minutes by minibus. Very often along the road you can see people sitting with signs saying “Apartment for rent,” so finding housing is not a problem. We usually rent with a friend, since we have been vacationing there for several years now and have managed to make friends. Locals move to their dachas in the summer (those who have them) and rent out their apartments to vacationers.
The sea is Azov, but it is deep, warm and clean. In general, I really like to relax there, due to the fact that the influx of people there is small, mostly Muscovites. The beach is shell.
You can sunbathe and swim on the city beach, “Tatarka” and bays, of which there are quite a lot. In general, this is the only “rocky” coast on the Sea of Azov.
The bays are very picturesque, each has a name: Turtle Bay,
Seven Brothers Bay, Cosmonauts Bay (I don’t know if it’s true or not, but the locals say that Yuri Gagarin’s own summer house used to be in this bay, they even showed us the steps that remained from it), etc. A local resident gave us an excursion along the coast with the bays, many thanks to him for an unforgettable trip, since we had to climb the mountains with the help of a rope, although, unlike us, he climbed such mountains without difficulty and any support.
There are many grottoes and caves in the bays. We were shown caves “hollowed out” by ancient people. But for those who don’t want to go “to the mountains”, there is a fairly simple trail nearby. I definitely recommend taking a walk along the bays, it’s very beautiful, but beware of snakes, there are vipers there. Although we did not meet a single one during the excursion.
You can buy food at the local market, which is quite good. There are many different cafes, in the evening - attractions, discos. You can walk until the morning, and they are located as if on an island, so people who want to relax at home are not disturbed by loud music.
Among the attractions there is an unfinished nuclear power plant. There used to be discos there, but not now. At the nuclear power plant there are guards with huge Caucasian shepherd dogs; they didn’t dare to come close to her.
There is a nature reserve - Cape Kazantip. In order to go there, you need permission, which can be obtained there, on the spot.
Another feature of Shchelkino: there are few windless days, so the sea is rarely calm - there are always waves, from small to large, depending on the strength of the wind.
From Shchelkino you can go on excursions to Sevastopol, Feodosia, Kerch by bus, there is a stop where you can find out the route and schedule. Local taxi drivers are friendly; they not only took us to the station, but also loaded us with things.
I’ve been vacationing in Shchelkino for several years now – I’m not planning on changing my vacation spot yet.
Every year thousands of tourists come to Shchelkino to spend their holidays on the seashore. This place attracts vacationers with its warm sea and beautiful nature. The difference between this place is that it is an excellent choice for those who want to go to the seashore with small children; the sea here is shallow, so it is always warm. The Sea of Azov has always been considered a vacation spot for married couples, but there are also several beaches where family holiday It's better not to do it. This wild beaches which are located outside the city. Therefore, here everyone will find a convenient and comfortable place to spend their vacation.
City central beach Shchelkino
The beach is located within the city, you can rent inexpensive housing within a few minutes walk to the sea. Leads to the beach area picturesque alley with Crimean vegetation, where for vacationers from morning until late evening there are many small cafes and restaurants that offer tourists refreshment with seafood dishes. There are also several shops selling recreational items, groceries and refreshments. There are various attractions for young guests of the city, and there are tents with a large selection of souvenirs. 
The beach area is quite extensive, covering about five kilometers along the coast. The beach is sandy, the entrance to the water is convenient, shallow, so it is convenient to relax here with children. The water near the shore is warm and clean. There are always a lot of vacationers here, but everyone can find a cozy place for themselves. The beach is equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas; there are rental points where you can rent various equipment for relaxing on the seashore. There are toilets, changing cabins and showers on site. If you move 300 meters away from the center of the beach, you can easily find places where there are not many people at all. Usually couples with children and tourists who prefer a more relaxing holiday come here. In the central part, young, noisy groups gather, various entertainments are held, there is the opportunity to ride a banana and a catamaran, or go for a walk on the sea on a small boat. Vacationers here are constantly offered local treats (corn, shrimp, fruits). Entrance to the beach is free.
Tatarka Beach
The second most popular beach in the town, where you can always find a cozy place to relax. The beach area is huge, coastline stretches for more than 25 kilometers, so there are places where there are no vacationers at all. Lovers of a relaxing holiday on the water’s shore, where no one will disturb you from enjoying the silence, sea and bright sun, love to come here. It is more convenient to get here by car, and lovers of walking come here, combining pleasant stay with a pleasant walk around the seaside town. You can get here on foot in about half an hour.
The beach got its name from Tatarskaya Bay, which is located near the famous Kazantip nature reserve in this area. This beautiful place with beautiful nature, Crimean trees that exude their healing aromas. Tourists come here who prefer to have a quiet time, stroll along the paths or read a book under the shade of the trees.

This place will appeal to those who prefer a secluded, quiet holiday away from noisy companies. Couples in love love to come here, where a romantic atmosphere is created for them, away from prying eyes. 
There is no entertainment on the beach. For those who like to spend their holidays in silence by the sea, this place is perfect. From the shore there is a beautiful view of the rocks and the sea. There are few people here, so the beach area and the sea are always clean. The entrance to the water is convenient, gentle, the sea is always warm.

The beaches are wild, it’s not so easy to get to them, they are located along the perimeter of the reserve, and some have a rather steep descent. In general, the territory of these beaches is almost closed; you can relax here only with the permission of the reserve administration, but lovers of secluded recreation still constantly come here.
The shore on the beach is made of small shell rock, there are quite large stones and boulders. The bottom near the shore is quite dangerous, consisting of slippery stones. The place is not suitable for families with children; recreation lovers prefer to spend time here away from large crowds of vacationers. Also, those who appreciate the beauty of nature and love to enjoy the beauty of the Crimean vegetation like to stay here. There is no entertainment or infrastructure here.
