Bad reviews from tourists about holidays in Fukuoka. Phu Quoc: reviews. What effect did Phu Quoc have on us in the first days? Excursions in November to Phu Quoc

Article updated: September 30, 2018.

November is a great month to come to Phu Quoc Island. When it is still raining in the most popular resort of Vietnam, Nha Trang, and strong cyclones are possible, the “high season” begins in Phu Quoc. The rains are subsiding, and the gentle sun and warm sea welcome tourists to the island who have come on a long-awaited vacation to the tropics. Let's take a closer look at what to expect from the island at this time.

Weather in Fukuoka in November

According to long-term weather observations on the island, in November the sun shines for two thirds of the month, and rain is possible for only 5–6 days. The air warms up to a temperature of 30 - 32 degrees Celsius, and the water to 29. At this time, you can already count on the fact that during the entire 10-12 days of a standard tour to the island, there will be no rain, and everything planned on the trip will come true.

As for the waves in Fukuoka in November, they are also on the decline. On our website there is a detailed article on which beaches are best for swimming at different times. In November, both on the east and west coasts, there are no big waves, and any beach is suitable for water treatments, especially with children.

November in Fukuoka: reviews from tourists

This is what visitors to our website and clients of the travel agency “Phu Quoc Life Tour” write about their vacation on the island this month:

They were afraid that it would be “wet”, the travel agency scared us about the rainy season and offered to go to Thailand. But we’ve already been to Thailand three times and wanted to try something new, especially since Phu Quoc is recommended by many. And they were right. It was cloudy for only two days, and it rained only once, and that was at night. As a result, we climbed the entire island on a moped, spent the day in Winpearl at the water park, and generally bought enough for the year ahead!

Anna Klimevich, Novosibirsk

Another vacation review:

We went specifically in November, since the prices for the trip were low, and on New Year’s we traditionally go skiing in the Carpathians. We were happy with our vacation: we lived in a good hotel (Salinda), went on a sightseeing tour twice, sailed on a yacht, snorkelled, but the weather didn’t let us down - it was sunny and cloudy too, but we didn’t see any heavy rains for the whole day, it poured a couple of times and that’s all, so I would like to advise everyone who doesn’t risk taking a ticket for November not to be afraid, but to go.

Vietnam Phu Quoc island in November 2019: weather and sea temperature

The most popular island and resort in Vietnam is Phu Quoc. Every fourth tourist who comes to the country on vacation comes here. And climate plays an important role in this. Many tourists say that the weather in Phu Quoc in November 2019 is beginning to recover after prolonged rains and typhoons. Reviews from tourists indicate that you can already swim in the sea, but you still need to be careful, because rain is not completely ruled out. So, are the tourists right or will the weather bring an unpleasant surprise? Let's find out.

The last autumn month in Vietnam passes in different ways. Somewhere there are still heavy downpours and typhoons, somewhere it’s dry and sunny, in some places it’s cold and winter is approaching. Phu Quoc is one of the resorts where you can relax in November, albeit with reservations. What are these reservations? Read on.

And so, November greets residents and tourists of the island with warmth. During the day, the air easily overcomes the mark of plus thirty degrees, and more often even higher than +33 degrees. If the sun is shining and there are no clouds in the sky, then at lunchtime it can easily be plus 37, which will undoubtedly please all vacationers.

The nights on the island are also warm, and in the evenings you can walk along the sea in light clothes. With the onset of twilight, the air temperature does not drop much, or rather only by 1-2 degrees. The strongest cold snap, so to speak, will be in the morning before dawn. Then the air will drop to +28 degrees. But is this a cold snap? Thanks to this weather, hundreds of tourists come out to greet the sunrise, and they all enjoy the first rays of the sun.

After dawn, not all tourists go to their hotel rooms. Most of them stay on the beach and immediately start swimming and sunbathing. Fortunately, the sea is warm and heated to a temperature of plus 29 degrees. It is worth saying that the sea off the coast of Fukuoka is the warmest in November. Nowhere else will there be such a water temperature, even in the famous resort of Nha Trang.

There are at least 20 sunny days per month, and these are the days when the sun shines more than 80% of the entire day. The daylight itself lasts just over 11 hours, and this is enough to have time to relax on the beach and go on an excursion.

And now a little fly in the ointment. It will rain here at least 8-10 days a month. During this time, about 140 millimeters of precipitation will fall. As a rule, there is no heavy rain here in November, although showers cannot be ruled out. But there are no typhoons, and this is very pleasing and encourages tourists to have a great holiday by the sea.

Phu Quoc is a tropical island in the south of Vietnam. It attracts tourists, promising heavenly beaches, cheap seafood, and a beautiful holiday in resorts. Are these promises true? In general, yes. Fukuoka is a great place to relax and is worth a trip. But the island shows its Vietnamese character - there are nuances and reservations, like a contract from a cunning lawyer. There is no need to give up your vacation, just read our review and advice. Forewarned is forearmed.

Tourists go to Phu Quoc for cheap seafood. Yes, they are in abundance here. But you can enjoy seafood at any resort in Vietnam - and the prices are the same or lower.

Holidays in Fukuoka safe in terms of natural disasters, unlike the center of Vietnam. The island is protected by a mountain range. There are no tsunamis here, and typhoons are not rampant. The climate itself is milder, there is no intense heat.

Not yet no widespread Russification, as in Nha Trang or, so basic knowledge of English will come in handy.

Overall, Phu Quoc produces mixed impression: it is quiet and calm, but the infrastructure is poorly developed, prices are high by Vietnamese standards, and there are few attractions.

When is the best time to go to Phu Quoc? Weather and seasons - 2019

Almost the entire year the temperature remains at the same level: air +29...+31°С, water +26...+28°С.

Holiday season. It’s better to go to Phu Quoc Island to relax - it’s warm and dry. However, from December to April prices are at their highest. The island is especially popular on. At this time, the number of Russian tourists increases significantly. We vacationed in Fukuoka in December and January, also celebrating the New Year here.

Hot season. From April to June it gets hotter, there is still not much rainfall. You can relax, but it’s not as comfortable as in winter. In reviews, tourists note that from mid-March to May there may be jellyfish in the sea.

Rain season in Fukuoka it begins in July, with maximum precipitation falling in September and October. The rest of the time the island has favorable conditions for beach holidays, diving and snorkeling.

Long Beach is the longest on the island.

Fukuoka beaches

There are many beaches in Fukuoka - the island is famous for them.

Long Beach- the longest and most popular beach in Fukuoka. It is here that almost the entire tourist infrastructure of the island is concentrated: hotels, resorts, cafes, restaurants, dive centers. Getting to the beach itself is not so easy! The entire first line is completely occupied by expensive resorts and hotels. They don’t want to let vacationers through their territory; they have to wander through the labyrinth in search of access to the sea. They can also drive you away from the beach - all the best places are occupied by hotel sun loungers from the first line. The beach, by the way, is very narrow and cramped. We recommend choosing others for your vacation.

Bai Sao- this beach is considered the best in Fukuoka. A beautiful beach with fine powdery sand, quite wide. Located in the southeastern part of the island, you need to go to it by bike or taxi. There are very few hotels here. There are cafes, fruit stands, showers, toilets.

In the northern part of the island there are several wild and uncrowded beaches - all with a gently sloping bottom, clear water and completely white sand. This is where the starfish beach is located. Amazing place - definitely go! There are almost no hotels and resorts, but there are seafood restaurants. Come here for beauty, privacy and silence.

Hotel prices - 2019

There is a wide choice of accommodation in Fukuoka: there are both cheap guesthouses and luxury resorts. We love to test different accommodations, so in Fukuoka we lived in a guesthouse, a hotel, and three resorts.

Hotels Phu Quoc is more expensive than other resorts in Vietnam. A decent room will cost from $25 (we recommend Sailing Hotel).

Guesthouses. You can find a cheap room in a guest house for $9, but such accommodation is located far from the beach. We lived in a family guest house.

Resorts. The best way to relax in Fukuoka is in resorts - these are oases of peace and tranquility. Prices are reasonable:

  • We paid $25 for a double house in the modest but cozy Cozy resort.
  • Good resorts with a pool and breakfast cost from $40. We vacationed at Miana Resort and recommend it.
  • There are also really cool five-star resorts with luxurious villas for $150 per day - for example, The Shells Resort & Spa.

Search hotels with discounts on Skyscanner Hotels. Here are the main ones.

The Hill Resort is a good resort in Fukuoka for $40 per night.

What to see in Fukuoka

Holidays in Fukuoka are mainly beach holidays. There are few attractions on the island: there is a large national park, waterfalls, pagodas and temples, an amusement park and safari Vinpearl, a cable car to Thom Island, a pearl plantation, a coconut prison and a fish sauce factory. The brightest and most colorful are the floating village and beach with starfish in the north of the island, the port and town of An Thoi in the south.

We recommend renting a motorbike (150 thousand VND per day) and riding around the island, exploring its attractions. The roads outside the city and the tourist area are clear - driving is a pleasure! We even celebrated New Year 2018 by riding a bike on empty roads at night.

We recommend renting a bike in Fukuoka - with it you will see many interesting places!

Excursions in Fukuoka in 2019

  • Amusement park "Vinpearl" - 500 thousand dong ($22).
  • Safari - 600 thousand dong ($27).
  • Comprehensive program with snorkeling, short fishing, dinner and excursion - from $17.
  • The same thing, but with night fishing for squid - from $30.
  • Diving: dive - from $70, course - from $340. Diving in Fukuoka is considered one of the cheapest in the world. The An Thới Islands archipelago is considered a good place for snorkeling and diving.
  • A two-day tour to neighboring Cambodia and Singapore costs $200-250.
  • Yachting is not developed, but you can ride a speedboat or a pleasure boat.
  • Wedding ceremony - from $1000.

Some northern beaches have starfish.

Food prices - 2019. Is the food good?

In Fukuoka the food is not tasty, and in a number of tourist cafes it’s completely disgusting. This is noted by many tourists in their reviews. Being lovers of Vietnamese cuisine, we also believe that Phu Quoc Island is much inferior to other resorts in Vietnam in terms of the quality of cuisine.

Food prices not happy either. Everything is more expensive in Fukuoka than on the mainland. Smoothies - from 20 thousand VND, rice with chicken or seafood in a tourist cafe - from 70 thousand. A portion of fish, squid or shrimp - from 100 thousand. In the capital of the island - the city of Duong Dong - you can eat cheaper.

To eat tasty and inexpensively, avoid tourist establishments and look for places where the Vietnamese themselves eat.

Grocery stores in Fukuoka are very bad. Even a rural store in the Russian outback will seem like a hypermarket in comparison. The assortment includes only specific Asian snacks, beer, soda, crackers and other snacks. Fortunately, everything is in order on the island: there are many sellers, prices are reasonable.

Shopping

There are practically none in Fukuoka, with the exception of small shops and a night market. You can buy shower clothes, pearls, coffee, cocoa, local black pepper and souvenirs. For more substantial shopping, it is better to go to Ho Chi Minh City.

On popular beaches you can buy inexpensive cut fruits from vendors.

It is better to book a hotel in Fukuoka in advance, especially for the New Year. We planned our trip late and had a limited choice of accommodation.

There is no public transport on the island. If only a free bus to the Vinpearl amusement park and a regular bus to the village of An Thoi. Rent a bike and ride for fun! If driving without rules (and the Vietnamese have never even heard of traffic rules) is unacceptable to you, use a taxi - they are in abundance here.

The mosquitoes on the island eat mercilessly! Nasty mosquitoes will disturb your sleep and bite you in the cafe during dinner. Stock up on fumigators and repellents.

Withdraw money from MB (Military Bank) ATMs - they are the only ones that do not charge a commission.

There are no buses from Fukuoka airport, only taxis. However, many hotels and resorts provide free transfers to guests - check when booking.

Don't limit your experience to just Phu Quoc. Outside the island - all the most interesting things: culture, nature, cuisine, historical sights.

Long Beach faces west, so you can watch beautiful sunsets on the shore.

Phu Quoc is the largest island belonging to Vietnam. And the most favorite vacation spot for the Vietnamese middle class.
Usually Vietnamese vacation in Phu Quoc in the summer. But in winter, it is full of foreign tourists who also want to soak up the sun on Vietnamese beaches, swim in the clear sea of Phu Coc and enjoy the almost untouched nature of the island.
This article contains the following information about Phu Quoc:

When we were planning our first trip to Vietnam, the question of where to go to the sea was not raised. Of course, Phu Quoc! After reading many reviews about Fukuoka, we decided to go to this island. And they were right!

  • First of all, there the cleanest sea in Vietnam.
  • Secondly, it is easily accessible from Saigon.
  • And thirdly, there inexpensive hotel prices, despite the proximity of the sea. Information about hotels can be found. There are not many reviews there, but I saw all the hotels in person, swam in the pools on the hotel grounds, sunbathed on the beaches, so the reviews are first-person and real.

How to get to Fukuoka

  1. Method one is the fastest. The best way to get to Fukuoka is by plane. Vietnam Airlines planes fly from Saigon to the island and back several times a day. The flight is only an hour. Before you even have time to get scared, boarding is announced. A ticket from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc costs 40-50 dollars. We took tickets several months in advance; if you take them the day before departure, they will be more expensive, but not several times more expensive. The airport in Fukuoka is very small, clean and somewhat rustic. Small planes fly there. Also clean, cozy and cute. And what kind of flight attendants there are!
  2. The second method is the cheapest. Fukuoka can also be reached by sea. True, you still need to come to Ho Chi Minh City first. There you take a night bus from Ho Chi Minh City Bus Station to Rach Gia town. Rach Tse has a small port from where ferries depart twice a day to Phu Quoc Island. The entire journey to Phu Quoc from Ho Chi Minh City will take approximately 15-20 dollars.

Fukuoka beaches

There are many attractions in Fukuoka - a pearl factory, a museum, several waterfalls, a pepper plantation, many hotels, but the most important thing why thousands of tourists come to the island is the beaches!

  • The largest beach in Phu Quoc is Bai Truong or Long Beach or Central Beach. Its length is over 18 km. And along the strip of sand by the sea there are hotels, guest houses, cafes and bungalows. This is the most tourist place in Fukuoka. But even in high season there are not too many people on the island. There is enough sea, sun, sand and cold beer for everyone!
  • Bai Sao Beach is located further away, as you go to the port. The sand there is snow-white and crispy, and the sea is an incredibly blue color. Our camera was simply unable to convey all the beauty of this beach. There are very few people there. It’s true that sometimes the wind blows and brings a lot of garbage into the sea. Then the most beautiful beach in Fukuoka becomes not so beautiful. Those who find themselves on Bai Sao at this time will be unlucky. Well, no problem, this is not the only beautiful beach on the island!

There are no beaches as such on the other side of the island. Absolutely wild places. You can swim, but be careful. There are rocks and the waves on the other side of the island are almost always big.
But the photographs turn out wonderful, and in general there is an air of some kind of primitive power and wildness. And Cambodia is visible in clear weather.

  • If you drive along the road to the north-west of Fukuoka, you will pass fishing villages, and then practically run into a wild beach - Gan Dau. It is not entirely wild - on the shore there is a single cafe, a couple of hammocks and - the sea. Very clean, very calm and incredibly beautiful beach. I like him much more than even the famous Bai Sao. There we caught starfish with teeth, octopuses and small fish. No one was hurt and everyone was released back into the sea.

There are no shopping complexes, entertainment centers, water parks or zoos in Fukuoka. Phu Quoc Vietnam is a quiet, clean and extremely beautiful and cozy place. Therefore, if entertainment and vibrant nightlife are important to you, it is better to choose another place to relax. But lovers of sea walks, privacy and vibrant colors will love Phu Quoc.

However, do not think that there is absolutely nothing to see in Fukuoka! There is

  • Coconut Prison (now a museum)
  • Famous fish sauce factory
  • Waterfalls and lakes
  • Pagodas
  • Night market
  • Pearl Factory
  • Pepper plantations

Weather and climate of Phu Quoc Island

Fukuoka has a good season and a great season. The best time to holiday in Fukuoka is winter, or rather from November to March. But you can also have a wonderful time there from April to October. It may rain during these months, but the sea is still very warm. The weather table shows sea water temperature in Fukuoka and air temperature by month.

Shopping in Fukuoka

What do you usually bring from Phu Quoc Island?

First of all, these are pearls. Products made from local Vietnamese pearls are considered the best in Vietnam. Just beware of fakes. A very cheap pearl necklace will not be of high quality and real!

Souvenirs - magnets, figurines, Vietnamese lacquer paintings and boxes, jewelry made from shells and coconut - you will find all this in the markets of Phu Quoc.

Here you can also buy flip flops, T-shirts, shorts, towels and small items necessary for relaxation. But it is better to look for branded clothing or shoes in Ho Chi Minh City or Nha Trang. True shopaholics will be bored in Fukuoka.

Phu Quoc is a jewel with emerald splashes of dense jungle, carefully framed by the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Thailand. I came to the island for the first time in November 2017. I loved it! I hope I can do it again.

November in Fukuoka

The island boasts unique wildlife in the northern part and pristine beaches in the southern part. I was struck by the lack of public transport. You can only travel by taxi, scooter or bicycle. I didn’t want to pedal in the +28 degree heat, so I most often used taxi services to get around.

The temperature day and night is almost the same, with the onset of darkness, closer to 18:00, it gets colder by only 3-4 degrees. Thus, +25 at night is the norm. Air conditioning in the room is vital. Thanks to moderate humidity, there is no stifling heat.

Heavy rains, clouds, winds - this is all the fate of Central Vietnam. In North and South, where Phu Quoc is located, it’s the other way around: the sky is clear, but there’s not even a smell of rain. You won't need an umbrella or other autumn paraphernalia. This time I flew with hand luggage: dress, sandals, Panama hat. I bought sun cream locally.

The best beaches in Fukuoka

Basically, go to any beach, I’m 99% sure you’ll be satisfied. If we select the top five, those where privacy is still preserved, these will be:

  • Vung Bau;
  • Ganh Dau;
  • Rach Vem.

My personal, so to speak, out-of-competition favorite is Thom Beach, located in the northeastern part of the island. Quiet, secluded, filled with the rich aroma of cashews and the clatter of restless cicadas.

Fruit paradise

Abundance reigns at local markets! My eyes widen. You can try and touch everything. They will peel your pineapple absolutely free of charge; for example, in Thailand they charged me money for this service. Try vegetables:

  • surrounding;
  • chayote;
  • pan choy.

My weakness is watermelons. They are not as huge as Astrakhan ones, but they are a thousand times sweeter.
