On October 1, 2017, on the International Day of Older Persons, the Moscow Government launched a unique social project “Good Bus”, implemented by the Department of Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of the City of Moscow with the assistance of the Department of Social Protection of the Population and the Department of Culture of the City of Moscow, reports Patriarchia.ru. Active support in the implementation of the project is provided by the Synodal Department for Relations of the Church with Society and the Media.
The goal of the “Good Bus” project is to support citizens of retirement age, increase their mobility and social activity, and introduce them to the cultural life of the capital.
Groups of pensioners of 50 people on a modern, comfortable “Good Bus” go on a daily sightseeing tour around Moscow, getting to know the capital’s museums, churches and monasteries, historical and architectural monuments, recreational areas, as well as other attractions of their beloved city. In the near future, routes to spiritual centers located in the Moscow region will be worked out and launched: the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, the Resurrection New Jerusalem Monastery, the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and others.
On October 2, pensioners visited the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, and on October 9 they spent the day at the Sretensky Stavropegic Monastery.
“Our good mission is to give dear elderly people a good mood, fill their lives with new impressions and acquaintances. Work with Good Bus passengers will continue every day after the trip. We will definitely invite them to a wonderful concert under the good name “Blue Handkerchief”, where young Muscovites will perform songs of past years with all their hearts. For those who like a more active holiday, we offer sports walks through the streets and parks of the capital. Naturally, all this is absolutely sincere and free! We have a lot of ideas and events, a whole center of good deeds! I hope that we will all become good friends,” says Sabina Tsvetkova, head of the Good Bus project.
