Beijing is divided into 14 districts and 2 counties.
The relief on the territory of the capital is flat, within the city you can find only 3 hills. Beijing has several ring roads. In fact, they form a rectangle shape, covering the entire area of the city, they serve as a great way to get around.
Behind the ring roads is one of the most memorable and preserved buildings to this day - the Great Wall of China. It has been visited by tourists from all over the world.
In 2010, Xuanwu was merged with Xicheng and Chongwen with Dongcheng. But in this article, we used the old, more familiar division, according to which Beijing has 8 urban districts, 6 rural districts and 2 counties.
Tourist areas

Xicheng
It occupies the northwest of the central part of the city, from the second ring road in the west to the third in the north. Here are Beihai Park, Houhai Lake, Beijing Zoo and National Concert Hall.

It occupies the northeast of the central part of the city, approximately from the third ring road in the north to the second in the east. Here you can find the "Forbidden City", the world-famous Tiananmen Square and the Beijing Railway Station.

However, the most important water artery of the region is the world's largest and oldest hydraulic structure - the Grand Canal, originating in Beijing and stretching 1782 km to the south. In addition, there are several lakes in the city, but almost all of them are of artificial origin. The largest lake in the central part of Beijing - Kunminghu - is about 2.2 km 2 and does not exceed 2 meters in depth.

Beijing is located at the junction of not only geographical, but also climatic regions. In general, the city lies in the monsoonal continental climate, but human activity significantly affects the weather in the city. Due to soil erosion in northern China, Beijing is prone to regular sandstorms during dry winters. The average summer temperature ranges from 24-28°C. At the same time, in winter, the thermometer can drop to -3-5°C, but frosts down to -10-15°C are not uncommon. The amount of precipitation in the region is low - about 550 mm per year. Up to 60% of them fall during July and August, and even 10 mm of precipitation may not fall in three winter months.
