Last year he beat the Russians on the ski track, and now he gave an interview to SE. Sergey Ustyugov Namesakes in Sochi

Many biathlon fans know Evgeniy Ustyugov, the famous Olympic champion, very well. When they hear about Sergei, who has the same last name and is a current ski racing star, they think they are relatives. Is it so?

Is Sergei Ustyugov the brother of Evgeniy Ustyugov?

Biathlon fans immediately ask themselves this question, especially considering their small age difference. As it turned out in one of Sergei’s early interviews, they have no family ties, and they are united only by a common Siberian origin and a love of winter sports.

Evgeniy Romanovich Ustyugov, a world-famous biathlete, was born on June 4, 1985 in the city of Krasnoyarsk. Since childhood, following the example of his father and mother, he has been involved in skiing. Evgeniy came to his main sport, biathlon, at the age of 12. His first coach was Viktor Ivanovich Ermakov.

Sergey Aleksandrovich Ustyugov is a famous Russian skier, born on April 8, 1992 in the village of Mezhdurechensky, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug. Here, in his small homeland, he began skiing at the age of 9 under the guidance of Ivan Bragin.

Achievements of Evgeny Ustyugov

Evgeny Ustyugov achieved his greatest successes at the Olympic Games: in 2010 in Vancouver, he won his first gold medal in the 15 km mass start discipline. The peculiarity of this race is that only 30 of the best riders in the world take part in it. Thanks to his impeccable shooting, hitting all targets, he left far behind such recognized masters of skiing and rifle as Ole Einar Björndalen, Michael Greis and Emil Svendsen. Here, in Vancouver, but already as part of the relay four, he won his second, this time bronze, medal.

Subsequently, Evgeny Ustyugov confirmed that the victories were not a coincidence: in the 2010 season, he was the best in the sprint race in Oberhof, and helped the Russian team win the relay race in Ruhpolding. Over the next 4 years, Evgeniy often took a place on the podium in World Cup races.

Evgeniy Ustyugov won another Olympic gold medal in the team race in 2014 in Sochi. This same season was the last in his professional career. After the end of the Race of Champions, surrounded by his many fans and biathlon stars, the Olympian announced his retirement from the sport.

Famous Mansi

Sergei Ustyugov is unique in everything. He is a representative of a small people living on the territory of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, whose population is less than 20 thousand people.

He began to show excellent results in cross-country skiing from his youth - he has 8 gold medals at junior world championships. Having moved to the adult category, he continued his brilliant performance.

For many years, Norwegians have been recognized leaders in skiing competitions. This is not surprising, since the entire population of Norway is fond of winter sports. This country was glorified on world stages by such famous athletes as Björn Deli, Petter Northug, Martin Sundby. Sergei Ustyugov, despite his young age, has already managed to repeat the records of the first two skiers and has repeatedly defeated the third.

The “flying” Mansi has 9 victories at the World Cup stages, 2 medals of the highest standard at the 2017 World Ski Championships, held in Lahti, Finland. In January 2017, he became the second winner in the history of Russian sports of the prestigious multi-day ski race Tour de Ski. At this race, he showed his undeniable advantage over Martin Sundby, “bringing” more than 1 minute to the finish line. Among the achievements of Sergei Ustyugov, it can be noted that both short distances and marathons are equally easy for him.

Namesakes in Sochi

Sergei Ustyugov and Evgeniy Ustyugov followed their own paths to fame, which is not surprising, since they represented different sports. But there was one common event in their careers - participation in the Olympic Games in Sochi. Evgeny Ustyugov, a biathlete, again conquered the sports Olympus in that memorable year. For Sergei, such competitions were the first in his career. Unfortunately, the success of the namesake Evgeniy was prevented by an unfortunate fall in the sprint final. As a result, Sergei became only fifth.

In 2014, Evgeny Ustyugov left big sport. His young and promising namesake, on the contrary, continues his triumphant march in skiing competitions. We can only hope that in a few years Sergei Ustyugov will again write this glorious name into the history of the Winter Olympics.

The two-time world champion talks about relations with the Norwegians, recovery from injuries and a new addition to the family. Loginov, Ustyugov, Kulizhnikov and 10 more Russians to watch this winter

Ustyugov finished last season without any personal medals, but remains the most famous and talked about Russian skier. At the last World Championships in Seefeld, Ustyugov quarreled with the Norwegian Johannes Klebo, patting him on the cheek after the finish, and then still won silver as part of the relay. After that, he announced health problems and underwent long treatment, missing part of the summer training. After Ustyugov’s recent autograph session at the Fischer flagship store on Vorobyovy Gory, Ustyugov exclusively answered SE’s questions.

Sergey, unfortunately, the main question for you over the past year is: how is your health?

I'm getting old, what can I say. Training volumes are growing, but the body cannot always cope with them. But now everything is fine. Tomorrow I'm leaving for a rolling trip to Finland.

What kind of back problems did you have in the summer?

Muscle spasms, nothing special. Marcus (Ustyugov’s coach Marcus Kramer - SE note) says that more massage and physiotherapy are needed. We have a new doctor on our team and a very good physiotherapist. I use all this, but unfortunately, it doesn’t always help.

Is it true that while you were training at home between training camps, you didn’t do any procedures and that’s why you got injured?

Not really. I took time off from the gathering in Davos to attend my best friend’s wedding. After that, I went to train in Tyumen, and for five days, until the regional team of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug arrived, I worked there alone. There was already a massage therapist with the Khanty-Mansiysk people, I regularly went to him, did physical exercises and stretching, as expected. But my back still jerked...

Were those same five days fatal?

Unclear. Marcus says that in general you need to spend more time with your body. I have no explanation: I’m just getting old...

I remember those times when, even during the victorious Tour de Ski stage race in 2017, you never went for a massage and generally said that you didn’t need it...

This is what is bothering me now. At that time I was not at all involved in restoring the body. And only now I began to understand that all sorts of injuries come out for a reason.

Without Vylegzhanin, but with Bolshunov. The ski team will start the season with a new team. Teammates joke that it’s time for me to retire.

Is it true that you consider a bathhouse the best means of recovery?

If the bath attendant is a good one - definitely! We found a guy in Dolgoprudny who used to live in Kamchatka and performed with Sergei Turyshev. Now he has moved to the capital and opened his own small bathhouse. I never even suspected that you could steam like that! I came home so rested and fresh, as if I had never been to the training camp at all. It turns out to be a tradition: every year after the Blink festival in Norway we visit him. It's a pity I don't have such a bathhouse at home.

How much did your back injury interfere with your preparation for the season?

It was such a good punch on the nose. After last season, I did a bunch of examinations and was in the hospital for a week. I did an MRI, passed all the tests, sorted out the problems with my legs... It seemed that I was finally convinced that everything was in order with the body and I could plow. And suddenly a new problem. How come I followed all the doctors’ recommendations?! After this spasm, to be honest, I slowed down a little. The personal trainer said: what’s the point of being one hundred and fifty percent in training if then something happens and you lie flat for a week. It’s better to work at 90 percent, but be healthy and fulfill the entire plan.

Knowing your maximalism, this arrangement hardly suits you?

Of course not. If I only work at 90 percent, how will I show the results I want? Even so, if you take the pulse graph, I’m not getting enough. But to be honest, the body can no longer cope with the stress as before.

You speak as if you are already 40 years old, not 27.

The guys from the team Ivan Kirillov and Andrey Krasnov constantly make fun of me. “Serge, it’s time for you to retire! It's already hitting you, old one! You’re only fit to be a sparring partner, not to run a race!” I even approached Marcus with this question. He says: prove it to them out of spite! But in every joke... Sometimes I start to think that they are right. Although we also have Sanya Bessmertnykh, who also sprinkles sand (laughs).

Don't you agree to veteran status yet?

When my back jammed, I walked as if a stake had been stuck into me - I could not bend. One day I was sitting like this on a bench in Tyumen, and Sanya came up: “Well, how are you, old man?” I say: “If I’m an old man, then you’re an old man!” We have a cheerful team, they don’t let us get discouraged.

“Ustyugov and Bolshunov can really cope with Klebo.” Vylegzhanin - oh

Russian-Norwegian

battle I recently discovered that I am not following Klebo on Instagram

There will be no World Cup this coming season.

But there will be three stage races and the overall World Cup classification. This is what interests me, and indeed everyone. I will be glad, of course, to win at least one race at the World Cup, but it is better to set more global goals.

- The Tour de Ski will now end with an uphill mass start. The president of your federation, Elena Vyalbe, for example, criticized this format.

It looks really somehow incomprehensible. But on the other hand, we haven’t tried running like that yet. When we run, then we will find out all the “pros” and “cons”.

In general, are you satisfied with the World Cup calendar for next year?

The number of sprints and distance races is balanced. But I would like, for example, at least one “fifty ruble”. There used to be a cool race in Italy, when they ran from Cortina to Toblach. But the international federation is guided by the interests of television and tries to make it spectacular. We skiers are not asked much. If you want to run a marathon, there are plenty of places to do it besides the World Cup.

How do you feel about the idea of a hundred meter ski super sprint? Norwegian Klebo, for example, is a fan of this discipline.

Klebo is interested in this, but I am not. I'm not as explosive as him. At the 100-meter race, I’ll probably get confused in my legs and fall somewhere. Although seriously, everything will probably come to this. The format of cross-country skiing changes every year. Previously, the same “fifty dollars” ran constantly, but now the distances are shortened. Therefore, the preparation is also completely different.

You once said that it is now impossible to win the finish the way Olympic champion Nikita Kryukov did.

Certainly. The times when Kryukov won were long ago and not true. If we take Nikita in his best form and the same Klebo, I would bet on the Norwegian. Simply because our sport is moving forward every year. Even I try to change my technique at least a little, for example, in terms of the angle of my leg.

Last year you almost got into a fight with Klebo at a distance; recently another Norwegian, Northug, wrote to you in the Instagram comments - “turtles.” What kind of “high” relationship is this?

It's fun. When Petter released a new collection of glasses, I recorded a video for him: “Petter, where are my glasses?” By the way, he never answered it. We communicate normally, no problems. Last year I wished Northug a happy birthday, he was even surprised that I remembered. For example, Pellegrino’s friend (2017 world sprint champion - SE note) wrote to my wife and congratulated her.

Do you communicate with Klebo?

I recently discovered that I don't even follow him on Instagram. But honestly, this is not special. Maybe he pressed it accidentally or someone else tried (laughs). I promise to subscribe again!

So, the question is: what do you think @_sobolysha_ changed her last name? Photo: @yamalieva_rimma.

Sergey Ustyugov: “Vyalbe will be the first one we invite to the wedding” During the Tour de Ski, my child is due to be born

I think this is interesting to people. They see that the national team is not some kind of closed club, but an ordinary team, where many even have friends. Some worked with the same coach as children, others studied together, and so on. Honestly, in 2017, Yegor Sorin helped me manage Instagram. Now I do something myself, somewhere they help me.

It’s no secret that you and Elena have been dating for a very long time, and only got married this summer.

Yes, Lena strongly hinted to me that it was time to propose (laughs). I steadfastly pretended that I didn’t understand anything. But in fact, I always knew that it needed to be done. I read an interview with Northug, where he said that even four world championship golds cannot compare with the emotions at the birth of a child. It's too early to judge, but it seems he's right.

Did all of Russia's skiers attend your wedding?

Unfortunately, not all. Sasha Legkov, Zhenya Dementyev, Stas Volzhentsev were unable to come. But Elena Valerievna was there and said a great toast, and in general it was fun.

I would like to say thank you 1000 times to @vasilisa_putilina for organizing the 2 best days? We are very lucky to have such a radiant man in our family life, are you just sunshine? which illuminates all nearby people with its energy! I can’t even imagine and don’t want anyone else to be the organizer of our wedding, our very better day, after all, it was you who assembled such a team as: super presenter @romansolin, photographer @yamalieva_rimma, and videographer @katybutarova, and also introduced us to the sorceresses from @duet_decor_wedding, who created a winter fairy tale for us! Helped relieve us of this pre-wedding stress! You were a real bridesmaid for 3 months, you didn’t let me go crazy @_sobolysha_ Also thanks to your girls @_vashadasha__ @mn_sunbeam and @irisha_stupnikova for their help in holding our first family holiday?

Has anything changed for you since your wedding?

This time I left home with such a heavy heart that I almost shed tears. Usually this is easy for me, but for some reason it hit me. The wife is left alone, pregnant...

Is the upcoming addition to the family a responsibility for you?

I'm very worried, I'm really shaking. Moreover, I won’t be able to be there - the Tour de Ski takes place around this time.

Are you thinking about sacrificing a multi-day race?

I have already asked the coaches about this. Maybe it's better to go home? Especially if by that time I will no longer fight for anything. But the coaches say that it’s better to run and come back to be discharged from the hospital. We'll see, it's still too early to judge. The fans asked me to promise that I would win a medal for the birth of the child...

I continue to introduce you to the Coaching Staff, with whom I was lucky enough to work. Coach of the Russian National Team Sergei Sergeevich Dergunov, works in tandem with San Sanych? Do you know who from the main team once trained on their team? ???

Markus Kramer: “Go to biathlon? Let’s return to this topic after 2022.” For me, the Olympics as a competition is dead

Are you going back on your words that the Olympic Games no longer interest you?

Of course not. Maybe they will judge me for this, but for me personally, the Olympics as a competition are dead. Well, I was at one Olympics in Sochi, so what? It didn’t work out at the first Games, I was preparing for the second - I was preparing, but they didn’t call me. Maybe they won’t invite you to the third one either, or something else won’t work out.

But if everything goes well, you won’t voluntarily refuse a trip to Beijing 2022?

Honestly I do not know. There is a thought that I don’t need this. Especially if I win everything I want in the coming years. They already ran at the Games without me once, if anything, they’ll do great again.

Are you following the latest events surrounding the status of RUSADA?

There is an impression that your German coach Markus Kramer has already become more “Russian” than many born Russians.

What is the advantage of a mixed team when girls train with you? Maxim Vylegzhanin, for example, believes that such joint training drags men down.

Sergei Alexandrovich Ustyugov. Born on April 8, 1992 in the village. Mezhdurechensky Tyumen region. Russian skier. Two-time world champion (2017), winner of the Tour de Ski multi-day race (2016/2017). Honored Master of Sports of Russia (2017).

By nationality - Mansi.

Some sources report his relationship with the famous Russian biathlete, two-time Olympic champion Evgeniy Ustyugov. However, they are only namesakes and there are no family ties between them.

Sergei is the youngest child in the family. From an early age I fell in love with sports. I started with boxing. Then he became interested in biathlon and trained at the Biathlon Sports School in the village of Mezhdurechensky. Since 2001, he focused on cross-country skiing, and his first coach was Ivan Bragin. Ustyugov quickly began to show very high results for his age and win at various competitions.

As Sergei Ustyugov admitted, he grew up as a hooligan, and if not for sports, his fate could have been completely different: “I simply don’t communicate with some childhood friends anymore. Some spent time in prison. Some are in prison. And "I was able to rebuild. Sports rebuilt me. I was a very bad student. Very bad. My mother told me: “Quit with sports.” Now I understand that if it weren’t for sports, I would have ended up like my childhood friends - in prison or worse."

From an early age, he was distinguished by his great diligence in training, determination and perseverance in achieving his goal. He himself said: “As a child, I had a very specific and conscious dream - to get into the national team of the country. In general, having achieved one goal, I set new ones for myself.”

At the same time, Sergei has a difficult character; due to his excessive love of freedom, he could remain outside the sport: “The main negative thing about me is my character. And the main positive thing... is also my character... From my first training camp they wanted to kick me out ". I wrote three explanatory notes. Violation of the regime, and all that. I didn’t like that they were putting pressure on me," he recalled.

His first big success came in 2011, when Sergei Ustyugov won gold in the sprint at the Junior World Ski Championships in Otepää (Estonia). On February 6, 2011, he made his debut at the World Cup and then for the first time got into the top ten at one of the stages (in the relay).

In 2012, Sergei Ustyugov became a four-time winner of the junior world championship in Erzurum (Turkey). Then he won gold in the sprint, 10 km race, skiathlon and as part of the relay.

In 2013, at the World Ski Championships among juniors and youth in Liberec (Czech Republic), Sergei Ustyugov won two gold medals in the under 23 category - in the 15 km freestyle race and in the 30 km skiathlon.

At the 2013 World Championships in Val di Fiemme, together with the team, he became a bronze medalist in the relay race, and in the individual race he was 47th at a distance of 15 km freestyle. He made his first appearance on the podium at the World Cup at the stage in Davos on December 15, 2013, taking 3rd place in the freestyle sprint. The following month, he won a stage in the Czech Nove Mesto na Morave in the freestyle sprint.

In 2014, at the youth cross-country championships in Val di Fiemme, he won gold in the individual sprint. At the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi in the final of the personal sprint, being one of the main contenders for victory, he took fifth place, falling in the final.

According to Ustyugov, skiing for him is a lifestyle, not a means of making money: “I never thought that I got into skiing purely to make money. I don’t go to work.”.

In May 2014, it was announced that Sergei Ustyugov was moving from the remote Russian national team, led by Oleg Perevozchikov, to a separate group of the Russian national team under the leadership of the Swiss-German duo of coaches Reto Burgermeister and Isabelle Knaute.

In January 2015, also together with Alexey Petukhov, he won the team sprint at the World Cup stage in Otepää. At the stage in Rybinsk, he took 2nd place in the freestyle sprint and 3rd place in the 15 km freestyle individual race.

In 2016, he took 3rd place in the 2016 Tour de Ski stage race. At the stage in Nove Mesto, he won silver and bronze in the 15 km freestyle and relay race, respectively. In February 2016, at the World Cup in Falun, Sweden, he won the 15 km freestyle mass start. In March 2016, he took second place at the Tour of Canada stage race, at the same time getting on the podium in five races of the tour and losing only to Martin Sundby.

In October 2016, it became known about a conflict between Burgermeister-Knaute and several skiers - Sergei Ustyugov, Evgeniy Belov and Stanislav Volzhentsev. The President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation and the head coach of the Russian national team allowed the skiers to move from the Burgermeister-Knaute group to the group of another German specialist Markus Kramer, who at that time already trained the 2014 Olympic champion Alexander Legkov and a number of other strong skiers.

Sergey Ustyugov won the Tour de Ski 2016/2017. He performed excellently at all stages of the stage race: he won the first 5 stages and at the sixth stage (15 km KS, mass start) he took 2nd place, losing 2.2 seconds to Martin Sundby. Before the last seventh stage, Sergei had the first position and 1 minute 12 seconds advantage over his closest pursuer, Norwegian Martin Sundby. Having confidently completed the last race up the Alpe de Cermis mountain, Sergey Ustyugov maintained his handicap and won the Tour. Thus, Ustyugov became the second Russian skier after Alexander Legkov to win the Tour de Ski. Sergey Ustyugov also set a record for the number of victories in a row at the stages of one round - 5. Before that greatest number Tour races (4) were won by the Norwegian Sundby.

At the 2017 World Ski Championships On February 23, he won a silver medal in the individual freestyle sprint, losing only to 26-year-old Italian Federico Pellegrino.

On February 25, Ustyugov won gold in the 15+15 km skiathlon. A few kilometers before the finish, Ustyugov and Sundby created a gap from the main group. On one of the last climbs, Sundby attempted to accelerate, but broke his pole. As a result of this, the Norwegian fell behind Ustyugov by several tens of meters and was unable to compete with Sergei for gold at the finish. Thus, Sergei Ustyugov won the world champion title for the first time in his career.

On February 26, Sergei competed in the team sprint in the classic style together with two-time world champion 31-year-old Nikita Kryukov. At the last stage, Ustyugov fled from Russia. 30 seconds before the finish, he was fourth after the Norwegian Emil Iversen, the Finn Iivo Niskanen and the 2017 world champion in the personal sprint Italian Federico Pellegrino. At the same time, the Norwegian and Finn were ahead, and the Russian and Italian skiers were somewhat behind. On the way out to the stadium, the Finn drove up close to the Norwegian, and while changing lanes to another Iversen track, the athletes collided. Both skiers fell, the Norwegian broke his pole, and Pellegrino and Ustyugov drove around their fallen opponents. At the finish, Sergei made a powerful acceleration and confidently won gold, 2.14 seconds ahead of the Italian, Niskanen finished third. Ustyugov won his second gold medal at the World Championships, and Kryukov became the first three-time world champion in the history of Soviet and Russian sports.

Ustyugov missed the next race of the championship, 15 km time trial in the classic style. In the 4x10 km relay, Sergei ran the last leg. After 3 stages, Russia was approximately 17 seconds behind Norway, Ustyugov was able to reduce the gap to 4 seconds, but was unable to compete for victory, winning his 2nd medal in relay races at the World Championships.

The last race of the championship was the 50 km freestyle marathon, which Ustyugov, in his own words, ran only for the second time in his career. Approximately a kilometer before the finish, the trio of Canadian Alex Harvey, Ustyugov and Sundby broke away from the main group. As a result of the finishing spurt, Harvey won gold, Ustyugov became second, and Finn Matti Heikkinen won the bronze medal, Sundby became only fifth.

Based on the results of the entire tournament, Sergei Ustyugov repeated the record of the Norwegians Björn Deli and Petter Northug for the number of medals at one World Championship - 5 medals (2 gold and 3 silver). Sergei also equaled Alexey Prokurorov in the number of world championship awards (six medals each).

During his career, he was on the podium at World Cup stages more than twenty times in individual races. Ustyugov has nine victories, six times he was second and seven times third. Ustyugov’s best achievement in the overall final standings of the World Cup is fourth place in the 2015/2016 season.

“There are moments in a race when you have to step over yourself. It’s like a car, it reaches the red cut-off point, beyond which the engine explodes. And you also have such a cut-off point. And you step over it, even knowing that it is mortally dangerous. I brought myself to such a state. It all happens automatically: you start up and drive. And you get high from such a state.", - said Sergei Ustyugov.

Sergei Ustyugov's height: 184 centimeters.

For all its stardom, it has fans mainly in Norway and neighboring countries northern countries. Most of the interviews of the three-time Olympic champion are in Norwegian, and he mainly communicates with Russian media in mixed zones. At the same time, Johannes understands very precisely how to promote the sport and himself. With better media opportunities, he could easily become a ski Ronaldo or Messi - he has a sharp tongue, arrogance, a creative approach to competitions and beautiful story about family help. He is still trained by his 77-year-old grandfather Koryo, and we coordinated the text of the interview with his father Hokun.

My popularity makes my parents go to the store themselves

- Johannes, you are the best skier in the world in recent years. Haven't victories become routine?

There are a lot of strong skiers in the world now. An athlete is only as good as his last race. Therefore, my goal this season is to win as much as possible in the sprint and long distances.

- There is a month left before the season. What is your plan for the remaining time?

I'll try to find snow in early November and focus on getting a good feel for the skiing. Me, my grandfather and my father will stay in Skekampen, where I will prepare for the opening of the Norwegian season - it will be held in Beitostolen. Workout, food, sleep. As you can see, a very interesting life.

Sergey Ustyugov is a young athlete. He is rightfully considered one of the most promising skiers of our time. Despite his age, he managed to win several significant awards.

early years

Sergei was born in April 1992 in the Khanty-Mansiysk Okrug. As a child, he was an active child and often caused problems for his parents. I was never particularly interested in sports, but at an early age I joined the boxing section. He showed pretty good results, but he didn’t like swinging his fists at all. The guy decides to try himself in biathlon, and he liked it. He will be happy to attend training and will become one of the best among his peers. After some time, he realizes that it is with skiing that he would like to connect his life. The mother of the future champion was against it, because the training did not allow him to fully concentrate on his studies. Despite everything, Sergei Ustyugov continued to practice and hoped to grow into a real professional.

At the age of eleven, he gets the opportunity to engage directly in cross-country skiing. The coach who offered him this was confident that here the guy would be able to fully realize his potential and be able to quickly get into the district team. The young man thought about the proposal for some time and eventually agreed. Initially, things weren't going well for him. Due to his complex character, the athlete often conflicted with the new mentor, and therefore did not demonstrate the expected results. After some time, he completely changes his attitude towards the matter and begins to consistently perform at various children's and youth competitions. This is exactly how Sergei Ustyugov started. Photos from his first competitions today occupy an important place in his home collection of awards.

Career in the "youth" and "youth" teams

After successful performances at the district championships, Sergei is included in the list of candidates for the Russian youth team. Very soon he was enrolled in the national team, and the athlete performed quite successfully at the junior world championship.

In the 2011-2012 season. Sergei Ustyugov (skier), whose biography is full of many different episodes, goes to the World Championships in Turkey. He managed to demonstrate amazing results and became the first in absolutely all competitions in which he performed. In the same year he takes part in an international tournament in Estonia. Here he again showed himself excellently, after which he was included in the first team.

In 2012-2013 It was quite difficult for the skier, because he had to move from “youth” to “youth”. There was a completely different level of athletes here, and he fully felt this at the very first competitions in Liberec. This tournament took place in 2013, and he completely failed. It is noteworthy that all this happened in the classic sprint, where he had no equal before. A few days later, the young man is completely rehabilitated and becomes first in the fifteen-kilometer time trial and wins the thirty-kilometer skiathlon. Even then they began to talk about the Russian as one of the most promising athletes in Europe.

Adult career

A rather interesting personality is Sergei Ustyugov (skier). His biography, although not so rich due to his age, nevertheless, there is something to read in it. A career at the highest level deserves special attention.

The debut at the World Cup took place in 2011. Even then he gets into the top ten. At the world championship in 2013, he won bronze in the team relay. Unfortunately, in the individual race I managed to become only forty-seventh.

At the World Cup stages, he stood on the podium for the first time in December 2013 in Davos. Sergei Ustyugov became third in the sprint. A few months later he took first place in the Czech Republic.

In 2015, together with Petukhov, he won gold at the World Cup in the city of Otepää. In Rybinsk I became second with the team and third in the individual freestyle race. In 2016, he went to the Tour de Ski, where he eventually won an honorary bronze medal.

At the Russian championships it is represented by the Dynamo sports society. The skier is trained by Swiss specialist Reto Burgermeiser.
