Southern town. Yuzhnoye (city). The central street of the city Yuzhny - Mira Avenue

One of the largest tourist resorts, Yuzhny (Ukraine), is located on the Black Sea coast. Holidays here differ from smaller towns in style and quality. However, the Yuzhny resort (Odessa region) is a fairly popular tourist destination. The city is located only 30 km from Odessa, so many Odessa residents come here on weekends and holidays.

What can vacation in Yuzhny 2019 offer?

The resort occupies a small strip of sandy beach, which is perfectly equipped for a good rest. There are bars, restaurants, changing cabins, and all kinds of entertainment for children of all ages. Since tourism has been flourishing here for many years, lovers of extreme recreation can enjoy parachute jumping, water scootering and water skiing.

The embankment is a favorite place for photos of all city guests. Along the entire embankment, lined with multi-colored tiles, there are bright blue street lamps. Every 50 meters there are modern benches overlooking the sea - reviews from vacationers always mention the local embankment as the “calling card” of the city.

Holidays in Yuzhny: accommodation

There are many options for living here. At the same time, the road to the beach will take very little time, no matter where the tourist lives. There are a large number of multi-storey buildings here and, most often, visitors choose apartments rather than houses for rent. Rooms in local sanatoriums are also successfully rented out to vacationers.

In terms of convenience and comfort, we offer accommodation of various types, designed to suit any budget. Therefore, every tourist will find a suitable option for himself.

Beach holiday in Yuzhny (Odessa region)

As already mentioned, the beach here is sandy and well equipped for a comfortable stay. The sea off the coast is very shallow, and only after 30-40 meters its depth becomes noticeable for an adult. There are special canopies on the beach that protect tourists from the sun, so you can leave your beach umbrella at home.

If vacationers are also interested in a cultural and entertainment program, then Yuzhnoye would be the right choice. The sea here is gentle and rarely storms in the summer, but everyone should visit the nearby attractions.

How does Yuzhny (Odessa region) entertain tourists?

The main distinguishing feature of the city from other nearby resorts is its size. Since it's a fairly large city, it's hard to get bored here.

Guests can enjoy:

  • Excursion tours to Odessa (both by bus and by ship from the local port).
  • Water park "Koblevo": the largest in the south of Ukraine.
  • A visit to the Koblevo winery - possibly with a tasting of local wines.
  • Shopping center "Riviera" - you will have to travel a couple of tens of kilometers, but here you can thoroughly enjoy bowling, shopping and the largest 3D cinema in the south with iMax technology.

On the territory of the resort itself there are a lot of restaurants and cafes. Most of them are located on the central streets: Primorskaya, Stroiteley, Shevchenko, as well as on Lenin and Mira Avenues. The provincial nature of the city adds peace and comfort to it, so a holiday here cannot be called hectic and urban. Yuzhny received its status (“city”) a little over 20 years ago, so it’s unlikely that you can “get caught in a traffic jam” or get lost on the local streets. The high-rise buildings are located far from the embankment; in fact, a forested park area separates the city from the Black Sea, so tourists can enjoy a good beach holiday.

The city has its own well-developed infrastructure: shopping centers (Plaza), a sports complex (Olympus), and several perfectly maintained parks. By the way, Yuzhny is incredibly green at any time of the year: many conifers, palm trees and cypresses are planted here - the city is literally buried in greenery.

Yuzhnoye or Yuzhny (Ukrainian Yuzhne) is a city of regional significance in the Odessa region of Ukraine. Located on the northwestern coast of the Black Sea, 35 km from Odessa, and near the border with the Nikolaev region. The distance to Odessa by road is 47 km. 10 km east of the city is the resort and vineyards of Koblevo.

Since May 11, 1978, it had the status of an urban village. It received the status of a city of regional significance in 1993.

There are seven main streets in the city: Khimikov, Stroiteley, Lenin Avenue, Primorskaya, Grigorievsky Landing Avenue, Novobelyarskaya and Kommunalnaya. The city is divided into 4 microdistricts and a microdistrict of individual development.

Story

In 1973, on July 19, the Council of Ministers of the USSR, by order No. 1455-r, determined the creation of an industrial and transport hub in the Grigorievsky Estuary, linking this with the construction of a new city with a population of 30 thousand people by 1990 and with the prospect of development of up to 150 thousand inhabitants.

Construction began in December 1976 on the right bank of the Sychavsky Pond. During the construction period, the village was given the working name Novaya Sychavka. On May 11, 1978, the village received the official name Yuzhnoe. In the same month, it was given the status of an urban-type settlement in the Kominternovsky district of the Odessa region and the Yuzhnensky village council was formed with its center in the town of the same name. Settlement began at the end of December of that year.

On February 25, 1981, the town became subordinate to the Suvorovsky district of Odessa. In 1993, the urban-type settlement of Yuzhnoye was classified as a city of regional significance. In the same year, the city became part of the Association of Ukrainian Cities. In 2000, the city's borders were approved by a resolution of the Verkhovna Rada.

The city is undergoing extensive construction of health centers (sports complexes of the port and health centers) and housing construction.

Population

Throughout the existence of the South, the population has shown growth, which is ensured both by the predominance of birth rates over deaths in most years, and by immigration over emigration. The birth rate in the city is on average 1.7 - 1.8 times higher than in Ukraine. This is associated with stable, highly paid work at a state-owned industrial plant, and therefore, before the government of Yuri Tymoshenko announced in 2009 the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to privatize the plant, the townspeople had a certain confidence in the future.

The city is undergoing extensive construction of health centers (sports complexes of the port and international-class health centers have been built) and housing construction

According to the All-Ukrainian Population Census of 2001, the predominant nationalities in the city are Ukrainians (65.9%) and Russians (29.9%), Gagauzians (1.3%), Belarusians (1.1%), Moldovans (0. 8%), Armenians (0.3%), Tatars (0.3%), etc. The native language for 53.5% of the city’s population is Russian, for 45.5% - Ukrainian, fluent (both first and second ) 87.5% of the population speak Russian, 78.7% speak Ukrainian (sample 98.8%).

The city ranks 7th in the region in terms of population.

Enterprises

The industrial port of Yuzhny on the Black Sea is one of the three largest ports in Ukraine along with Odessa and Ilyichevsk.

general information

The city of Yuzhny, Odessa region, is located in the south of Ukraine, on the Black Sea coast, 37 km from Odessa and 80 km from Nikolaev. Near Yuzhny (15 km) there is the Koblevo resort, widely known not only in Ukraine. Yuzhny is a very compact city. Its area is just over 10 sq. km, population is about 33 thousand people (01/2018). By the way, in 2017, Yuzhny was visited by more than 100 thousand guests, which is 3 times more than the population of Yuzhny itself!

The main part of the city, built up with high-rise buildings, measures only 2 by 2 km. Those. You can leisurely walk around the whole of Yuzhny in just 1 hour, and from any house you can walk to the sea in just 10-20 minutes! In Yuzhny there is also a MIZ (territory of Small Individual Development) with private one, two and three-storey houses, located on the right before the main entrance to the city.

Yuzhny was founded on May 11, 1978 as a place of residence for employees of the Yuzhny Sea Trade Port and the Odessa Port Plant, located only 3-5 km from the city. Nowadays, many large industrial and transport enterprises have already been built and are being built near Yuzhny, such as, for example, Delta Vilmar, TransInvestService (TIS), the Borivage grain transshipment terminal, the Pivdenny oil terminal and many others.

A dynamically developing city.

Over the past few years, the city leadership has been actively attracting investors to develop the tourism industry. Parks and squares are being built, throughout the city the asphalt on pedestrian paths is being replaced with paving stones, bicycle paths with special markings and signs are being created, it is planned to build a large entertainment tourist complex, a pier for hydrofoil boats and a parking lot for yachts. Also in Yuzhny there are several world-class facilities - the Olimp and Portovik sports complexes, which often host international competitions in various sports.

In addition to them, there are a lot of other sports clubs, sections and open sports grounds in Yuzhny. We even have our own two-time Olympic champion - Yuri Cheban! In general, Yuzhny is a young, sporty and modern city! By the way, the main slogan of our city is “The sun shines on everyone!”

Prices

Thanks to the large number of industrial and transport enterprises in the city of Yuzhny, Ukraine has a fairly high standard of living. For example, the average salary (according to statistics as of August 23, 2018) was 15,800 UAH. (about 560 USD). Due to the high standard of living, the city of Yuzhny has more than once ranked first in Ukraine in terms of birth rate per capita! Unfortunately, not all residents of our city receive such a high salary or pension. But it is precisely thanks to such statistics that we have some of the highest prices in Ukraine.

For many types of goods and services, prices in Yuzhny can compete even with Kiev and Odessa! But we also have pleasant exceptions regarding prices, and some services are even free. For example, for pensioners, travel on a city bus and buses to summer cottages in Koshary, entrance to museums in the South (except in the summer).

Modern technologies in the city of Yuzhny, Odessa region.

Yuzhny is not only a very modern city in appearance, it already uses a lot of modern technologies. On the roofs of all city kindergartens, as well as the Hellas Hotel and hospital, it is difficult not to notice solar panels that provide these buildings with environmentally friendly and cheap electricity. The hospital also has fully autonomous heating and hot water from solar panels, as well as its own well with a modern water purification system. The sports complexes “Portovik” and “Olympus” have their own modern mini-boiler houses.

Newly built houses in Yuzhny have autonomous mini-boiler rooms or individual heating (AGV) in each apartment. All residential and office buildings in the city of Yuzhny are already equipped with automatic heating control systems, as well as heating meters for each house.

Most street lighting is already LED and plans are in place to be all LED soon. Not only does this provide significant savings to the city’s budget, but also the light from LEDs is brighter and whiter, which is more pleasing to the eye and safer.

Transport.

Since the city of Yuzhny is very compact and you can cross it all in 20-30 minutes on foot, the only public transport available is bus No. 1. Physically, this is only one bus that passes through Yuzhny every 30 minutes. In addition, there are many taxi services in our city.

You can arrive in or leave Yuzhny from the city bus station. There are frequent regular buses and minibuses in the following directions: Odessa, Kyiv, Koblevo, Nikolaev. Also from the bus station you can get to surrounding villages and enterprises, and even get directly to Poland without transfers (travelling through Vinnitsa, Uman, Khmelnitsky, Ternopil and Lviv).

In the warm season, southerners actively use bicycles, roller skates, Segways and hoverboards. There are also bicycle rentals. For greater ease of movement throughout the city, special bicycle paths are being actively built, starting from the very entrance to Yuzhny (from Anchor). These bike paths are marked with special markings and signs. Therefore, for your own safety and for the sake of mutual respect, try to walk on footpaths.

At the bottom of the page in the reference information you will find the telephone numbers of taxi services in the city of Yuzhny, a link to the website of the city bus station and bicycle rental.

Advantages of the city Yuzhny.

Yuzhny is a very clean city! There are a large number of new comfortable benches, and almost every one of them has a trash can. Therefore, you will rarely see even cigarette butts thrown on walking paths, not to mention larger litter.

The small amount of transport gives our city an important advantage: our air is much cleaner than in neighboring Odessa, which is polluted with a large amount of exhaust gases from cars. But instead, in the city of Yuzhny there is a pleasant, specific smell of the sea!

Many, visiting our city for the first time, are surprised by its cleanliness and beauty. We hope you will appreciate it too!

Main objects and streets of the city of Yuzhny.

Just before the entrance to Yuzhny, at a fork in the road, there is a large steel anchor - a symbol of the city’s proximity to the Black Sea and the port of Yuzhny. The height of the anchor is more than 20 meters, so if you drive along the road to our city, you will definitely not pass it! Immediately after the anchor, on the right there is a road to the port of Yuzhny, MIZ (private houses of the city) and several recreation centers. For greater clarity, where everything is located, at the bottom of the article there is an interactive Google map of the city of Yuzhny.

When you travel about 1 kilometer from the anchor in a straight line, on the left you will be greeted by the tall blue building of the Holy Vvedensky Church with a real bell tower,

then an asphalt square with a city bus station building.

.

immediately after which you will approach an intersection with the first traffic light in the city. Yuzhny is so small that there are only two traffic lights in Yuzhny, one of which appeared only in the summer of 2018.

By the way, the vast majority of drivers in Yuzhny are very respectful of pedestrians (after all, there are a lot of children in the city) and drive around the city carefully, not exceeding the permitted speed limit and giving way at pedestrian crossings! We would like to expect this from guests of our beloved city!

Khimikov Street.

From left to right, the intersection with a traffic light is crossed by Khimikov Street (the numbering of houses starts on the right side). It is named after the OPP chemical enterprise, thanks to which the city of Yuzhny was founded. If you turn left at the intersection, you will reach the police station, the city market and then to the clinic.

If you turn right, you can get to the city hospital and then, after turning left, to the “33 square meters” shopping center, the “Portovik” sports complex and the Yuzhny port dispensary.

Grigorievsky Landing Avenue.

Grigorievsky Landing Avenue crosses Khimikov Street at the intersection near the traffic light. It is named after the amphibious landing in 1941 near the village of Grigoryevka (near Yuzhny) to help defend Odessa from the Nazis. The numbering of the avenue's houses decreases as you move from the traffic light to the sea.

Mira Avenue, Shevchenko Street and Victory Square.

After driving along Grigorievsky Landing Avenue for about 1 km, you will come to another large intersection. To the left is Mira Avenue, to the right is T.G. Shevchenko Street (to get to Shevchenko Street, see the map: you won’t get to it from the square). The street is named after Taras Grigorievich Shevchenko, a Ukrainian poet, prose writer and artist. Previously, Mira Avenue and Shevchenko Street bore the same name as Lenin Avenue.

At this intersection it is impossible not to notice a large building with a blue domed roof - this is the calling card of the city of Yuzhny. In front of the sports complex there is a spacious Victory Square, on which there are many fountains and flower beds with a variety of plants and flowers. And nearby is the Druzhba Palace of Culture.

Opposite the Olimp sports complex, across the road there is a modern beige building - City Council the main administrative building of the city of Yuzhny. Behind the building of the sports complex there is a modern 3-star hotel “Hellas”, designed in the same style.

Primorskaya, Novobilyarskaya and Stroiteley streets.

The total length of Grigorievsky Landing Avenue is about 2 kilometers, and it almost abuts the Black Sea, and ends at the intersection with Primorskaya Street. This street is located parallel to the Black Sea coast, and from it to the beach it is about 150 - 200 meters. That's why it's called that.

Turning right, you will reach the dispensary and sports complex “Portovik” of the Yuzhny port, and further to the right, Novobilyarskaya Street begins. From Primorskaya, turning left, you will reach the central entrance to Primorsky Park, the Primorsky restaurant and the Wellotel.

Primorskaya Street ends with a smooth turn onto Stroiteley Street. The numbering of Stroiteley Street starts from the sea side. The street itself is located parallel to the estuary, where there is the Yuzhny wake station (wakeboarding) and a yacht club where Yuzhny athletes practice on kayaks and small yachts.

At the intersection of Stroiteley Street and Mira Avenue there is the Church of St. Peter and Paul UGCC and the Flamingo cafe.

The central street of the city Yuzhny is Mira Avenue.

Mira Avenue is divided into 3 parts. There are several shopping centers, cafes, banks and shops located here. The wide part of the avenue in the middle is for pedestrians only, the other two are roads, each with one-way traffic. On the road closest to the Olympus sports complex, go down the avenue, on the opposite road, go up. They plan to modernize the pedestrian zone in the near future: they will make a large fountain right on the road and a colonnade . The planned pedestrian zone of Mira Avenue can be seen in the photo below.
