Beaches of Da Nang these are beautiful, clean, wide, uncrowded beaches, which for some reason are not yet popular among European tourists. Our people mainly choose Mui Ne or Phu Kok Islands for their holidays. And in vain! The beaches of Da Nang are magnificent during the season, and one of the beaches, China Beach or Chinese Beach, is recognized by Forbes magazine as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world!

Beach in Da Nang

Da Nang Beaches: My Khe and Bac My An (Chinese Beach)

My Khe Beach And Bac Mi An (Chinese Beach) are located in the east of Da Nang and stretch for several kilometers from north to south. The beaches of Da Nang are separated from the bustling city center by a wide river. The resort area near the beaches is completely empty on weekdays, only on weekends and holidays a few Vietnamese families come to the beach to swim in the sea or have a picnic.

In general, there is no clear boundary between My Khe beaches and Chinese beach in Da Nang. My Khe beach is located to the north, closer to the mountain and the Lady Buddha statue, and the Chinese beach is to the south, near. If we go further south along the coast, we will come to an equally chic one, where there are still more tourists than on the beaches of Da Nang. Europeans prefer to settle in Hoi An rather than Da Nang. If you are planning to visit Hoi An, then this information is for you:

Luxurious hotels have been built on Chinese Beach right on the seashore. One of them is the Furama Beach Resort, considered the best five-star hotel in Vietnam!

To the north, the beach strip narrows, a long, wide and green embankment stretches along the sea (oh, how we lack a good embankment 🙂, a mini careless one doesn’t count). The hotels are located across the street from the beach.

We are already relaxing on a bike like real Vietnamese :)

On China Beach you can relax in one of the beach clubs with large parking for bikes, showers, changing cabins, sun loungers and restaurants on the shore. Prices are not high. For example:

  • Beer – 22,000 VND
  • Coffee – 25,000 VND
  • Water – 12,000 dong
  • Soups – from 40,000 VND
  • Seafood – from 150,000 VND
  • Meat dishes – from 100,000 VND

It’s funny, but after 18:00 the prices for drinks are a little higher, which is what is written on the menu :)

Food prices in restaurants by the sea are not very high

My Khe beach also has a lot of sun loungers and umbrellas, there are showers and small tents with drinks. Check if there is water in the shower, otherwise we are planning to swim in the sea in (), I decided to check first if there is water in the shower - but there is no water :) It depends on everyone, but for me it is important to wash off the sea salt from yourself after swimming in the sea.

The cost of renting a sun lounger under an umbrella on Danang beach is 30,000 VND (~ 1.5 dollars).

The beach strip is very wide, and the sand is white - white and very fine. It's a pleasure to walk along the surf line. The entry into the sea is very smooth; it will take a long time to reach the depths. Convenient for families with children.

Beach season in Da Nang

When is the beach season in Da Nang? In general, it is believed that the best time to relax on the beaches of Da Nang is from January to August. I don’t know, I don’t know how to swim there in January-March? We vacationed at the end of May-beginning of June and the water in the sea was icy! Although maybe I’m being picky, I just love the warm sea, like it was on Koh Samui in July :)

In June, jellyfish swim to the shores of Da Nang: they are not life-threatening, but you should swim in the sea with caution.

From September to November-December there are strong storms at sea. It is at this time that world surfing competitions are held on the Chinese beach of Da Nang.

In spring and summer, the sea in Da Nang is calm. Strong storms may occur in October-December

How to get to Da Nang

Da Nang is a major transport hub in Vietnam; the city has both an airport and a railway station.

By plane

Da Nang Airport is located almost in the city center :) Air tickets to Da Nang are easy to find and buy.

By train

The railway connects Da Nang with many cities in Vietnam: , Hue, and others. You can view the train schedule to and from Da Nang.

By bus

Vietnam has a well-developed bus service. Sleeping basses are especially popular among tourists :) By bus from Da Nang you can travel all over Vietnam. You can look at the bus schedule and ticket prices.

conclusions

Da Nang is a good low-tourist city in Vietnam with gorgeous beaches. Danang would be a good choice for wintering in Vietnam, if not for several BUTs:

  1. Apartments in Da Nang are rented only for long periods of 6 months or even a year. You can, of course, live in a guest house for 10 - 12 dollars a day, but this is not our option.
  2. Cold and rainy weather in autumn and winter. Still, Da Nang is located north of Nha Trang, and even in Nha Trang in November-December it is cool and rainy.

Vibrant landscapes of Da Nang. What a beautiful sea there is!

But Da Nang, like neighboring Hoi An, is ideal for a beach holiday in Vietnam in the summer months. Due to the shallow sea and gently sloping inlet, Da Nang is a good place for families with small children. And fans of many kilometers of walks along the sea will not leave this beach indifferent :)

It impressed with its infrastructure and civilization: there are many convenient transport interchanges and traffic lights that are not ignored by local residents (as in Nha Trang).

Large and beautiful Da Nang Civic Center

Da Nang has an international airport and a train station, so getting here is easy. Of course, you can get to Da Nang from any city in Vietnam by slipbus - this will be the cheapest option. We came from Hoi An by rented car. It cost only 250,000 dong ($11), and the journey only took about half an hour.

Evening Danang is very beautiful

We were here for only one day, so we didn’t have time to get to know the city well from the inside. But we really liked what we were able to see. I wanted to live in Da Nang for a month or two, to change the already familiar and slightly boring “Russian” one to a more Europeanized resort.

Da Nang is the third largest (after Hanoi and) city in Vietnam. There is a good beach here, but there are few tourists. However, many cool hotels are being built on the shore, and Da Nang will soon become a famous resort. So far, mostly Europeans know about it; we haven’t met any Russian vacationers here. This is explained by the fact that you can only get to Da Nang on your own; package tourists are not brought here (Russian tour operators have not yet gotten the hang of it). It's for the better!

For Russian people, Da Nang is also notable for the fact that the Russian Consulate General is located here. Besides Da Nang, there is a Russian consulate in Vietnam only in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

What to see in Da Nang? Despite the fact that the city is large, there are few attractions in it: the Museum of Cham Culture (which we did not visit because we had already seen similar museums at and), the Dragon Bridge and the recently opened.

The famous Dragon Bridge at sunset and the huge Ferris wheel Sun Wheel behind it

Da Nang is also famous for the world's longest cable car, 35 km from the city. It is even included in the Guinness Book of Records not only as the longest, but also the highest cable car in the world (you will have to ride for about 20 minutes at an altitude of 1200 meters). A ride in a cabin costs 400 thousand VND ($18). A little expensive, considering that in Nha Trang you can buy a ticket for 550 thousand VND and, in addition to a whole day of attractions on the island, also take a ride on the cable car connecting Nha Trang with the island (by the way, it is the longest cable car in the world, passing above the sea).

Dragon Bridge in Da Nang

There are a total of 5 bridges across the Han River in Da Nang. Each of the bridges (except one, the northernmost) is a work of art. There is even an analogue of the famous bridge in San Francisco (Thuan Phuoc Bridge).

Thuan Phuoc Bridge at sunset, it looks even cooler at night

But the most famous is the Dragon Bridge. This is the greatest pride of the residents of Da Nang (and this is understandable, since there are practically no attractions here). This bridge was opened in 2013. Its length is 666 meters (a terrible number). American architects built the bridge, spending $88 million on the construction.

Twice a week, the iron dragon comes to life and an unusual performance begins: its mouth spews fire and water. This is an unusual spectacle, which a huge crowd of tourists and locals always gather to see (they never seem to get tired of it).

The dragon lights up in all the colors of the rainbow!

The show starts at 21:00 every Friday and Saturday. Lasts about 15 minutes. To observe the revived dragon, there are special round observation platforms near the bridge. But it is on them that viewers fall under the dragon shower! We ourselves got wet to the skin and miraculously saved the camera.

Da Nang Hotels (Vietnam)

There are many expensive Spa hotels in Da Nang, among which, according to reviews, the best ones can be identified:

But you can also find economical housing. For example, we rented an inexpensive hotel Sea Wonder Hotel close to the sea (although we didn’t go to the sea) for only $11 per night. Of course, it was not the most spacious room, but everything in it was new and pleasant. The price also included a delicious breakfast for two, and the child could sleep with us in a large bed without any additional charges. The hotel itself was very clean, quite large and well maintained. We can recommend it with confidence.

How to get from Nha Trang to Da Nang

The distance from Nha Trang to Da Nang is 540 km.

Since both Nha Trang and Da Nang have airports (even international ones), the easiest and fastest way would be fly by plane. But this will also be the most expensive way: the cost of a Nha Trang-Danang plane ticket, depending on the dates and advance notice of purchase, varies from $45 to $280.

Danang and Nha Trang are also connected by rail, so you can spend the night in (the cost of a shelf in a 4-berth compartment will be approximately $30).

The cheapest way to get to Da Nang, of course, is. Traveling from Nha Trang to Da Nang by bus will cost only $10. The travel time is about 12 hours, which means you get on the bus at about 18:00, and at 6:30 the next day you will be in Da Nang.

Da Nang on the map of Vietnam:

One of the largest cities in Vietnam is a resort town Danang, located in the central part of the country. This densely populated city is home to about 1 million people. It is worth noting that tourists discovered it relatively recently. Therefore, Da Nang is not one of the favorite Vietnamese resorts, but local residents enjoy relaxing on the city’s magnificent beaches.

Many tourists, when choosing a Vietnamese resort, do not even take Danang into account, because they believe that in a large city there are always a lot of vacationers, hotels are crowded, and there is nowhere for an apple to fall on the beaches. At the same time, tourists mistakenly believe that due to the large crowds of people, the beaches here are dirty and unkempt. But few people know that the resort area is separated from the noisy metropolis by a large river, and serene peace and quiet reigns here. The beaches in the city are very clean, and the water in the sea has a turquoise hue. This is truly a paradise, where simply ideal conditions for relaxation have been created.

Best time to go to Da Nang

The ideal time to visit Da Nang is considered to be from December to March. Comfortable temperatures and minimal precipitation make holidays here during the winter months bright and eventful. Autumn is the rainy season, so it is better not to plan a trip during this time, since the rains in this region are usually heavy and long-lasting. In summer, the city is very hot and the air humidity is high, so people with cardiovascular diseases should avoid traveling to Da Nang in summer. But winter is an ideal season in every way.

How to get to Danang from Moscow

The easiest and fastest way to get to Da Nang from Moscow is to purchase an air ticket from one of the companies operating flights to this region of the country. Da Nang has a large international airport, but it does not accept direct flights from Moscow. Tourists can fly to the city on connecting flights operated by many air carriers, or fly to Ho Chi Minh City or, and then transfer to a domestic flight. It is worth noting that the distance from these cities is more than 500 km.

The main attractions of Da Nang

Marble Mountains

photo: Marble Mountains - a unique natural attraction near Da Nang

They are considered one of these amazing and unique places. In ancient times, this place was especially popular among artisans. It was here that the materials necessary for the manufacture of many household items were mined. However, currently the Marble Mountains are considered a natural monument. In the mountains you can find many caves that were once used by hermit monks as their secluded home. This is probably why a huge number of pilgrims come here during religious holidays.

Ruins of the Michon temple complex

photo: The ruins of the My Son temple complex in Da Nang are a must-see

Another place that is definitely worth a visit in Da Nang is. This temple complex occupied a huge area in the past. It consisted of about 70 buildings. However, only a small part of its former grandeur has survived to this day. The temple complex was built back in the 4th century and was one of the main religious sites in the country. Next to the ruins is a museum dedicated to this great structure. There are not very many exhibits here, but the tour of the museum is very interesting and informative. The ruins of Michonne are under the protection of the world organization UNESCO.

Hai Van Pass

photo: Hai Van Pass - stunning views from here

Among the natural attractions of Da Nang, it is located near the city that deserves special attention. It is located at an altitude of 500 meters, and offers incredibly beautiful views of the picturesque landscapes. The pass is located on the way from Da Nang to Hue. If you go along this route on a tourist bus, then you will definitely have a stop in this beautiful place, during which you will be able to admire the beauty of the landscapes and take magnificent photographs.

The city of Danang and the incredible Bana Hills Park never ceases to amaze us. A magnificent flower park, ancient Buddhist pagodas and a magical French village. We found ourselves in a fairy tale. And the rain and fog added magic to the entire already magical park.

Da Nang is the fifth largest city. For tourists, thousands of whom flock to the Pacific coast, Da Nang is attractive, first of all, for its many kilometers of beach. Da Nang is a metropolis in which modern business districts, ethnic areas are closely adjacent, and excellent conditions for a beach holiday are created. Plus, one of the largest ports in the country is located here. We will tell you about what a holiday in Da Nang, Vietnam is like, what the attractions and entertainment are, in this article.

Danang is located in the central part of Vietnam, directly on the coast of the South China Sea. To the south is Hoi An, and a little further north is the UNESCO-protected town of Hue.

Danang on the map

Vietnamese resorts, unlike, for example, Indonesian ones, cannot be described as equally suitable for beach holidays all year round. The air temperature may vary significantly depending on the month of travel. You can evaluate the differences in the following diagram:

The hottest season is from April to September, and the coolest, relatively speaking, is from December to February. But even at this time the thermometer does not drop below 20 degrees at night, which makes this period suitable for swimming.

Speaking about the sea, it is worth noting that in addition to the level of its warming, the presence of waves plays a significant role. Coastal waters are calmest from May to August.

Sea water temperature by month:

As for the rainy season, it is pronounced in Da Nang and occurs from September to early January. During these months, there are almost as many rainy days as sunny days. The greatest amount of precipitation falls in November.

It is worth noting that the rains themselves do not particularly interfere with beach holidays, since they most often occur in the evening hours and are torrential, but short-lived. However, it is during this period that typhoons are common in Da Nang, causing rough seas.

A trip in the low season is an opportunity to save up to 50% of your vacation budget.

How to get there

You can get from Russia to Da Nang by plane. The international airport is located 4 km from the city.

There are no direct flights from Russia.

It is possible to fly with a transfer in Hanoi, Singapore, Beijing. There are also flights with 2 connections. The cost of a ticket for an adult passenger departing from Moscow is from 285 euros one way. Travel time depends on the number of transfers and the duration of connections and in the best case is 12.5 hours.

You can get from the airport to your holiday destination by taxi. You can order their services at the appropriate counter upon arrival or by renting a car directly at the exit. Lively taxi drivers very loudly invite potential clients.

The cost of a trip by regular car will cost about 100,000 VND and 45,000 VND by motorcycle taxi.

Important! Official taxi services in Da Nang operate on a meter, but if the services are provided by a “accidentally caught” car, then you should agree on the price before boarding, without forgetting to bargain.

From other parts of the country

If Da Nang is not the first vacation spot during a trip to Vietnam, then the most convenient way to get from other regions of the country is by bus.

Da Nang Bus Station is located on the western side of the metropolis and serves both domestic and international routes. The latter depart from Da Nang to Laos and Cambodia.

The cost of bus tickets depends on the direction of travel. For a ticket to Dong Hoi you will have to pay 200,000 dong (travel time - 5 hours), and a 3-hour road to Hue will cost 120,000 dong.

The journey from Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi takes about 14-16 hours, which is quite tiring.

An alternative in this case may be domestic flights. The cost of a ticket from Hanoi is from 13 euros, from Ho Chi Minh City - 16 euros. The flight in both cases is non-stop and lasts about an hour and a half.

Another way to travel within the country is by rail. You can get to Da Nang by train from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City or Nha Trang. When choosing this type of transport, it is worth considering that local trains are quite slow and expensive. So a trip from Ho Chi Minh City will cost at least $40, and you will have to spend almost 16 hours on the road. Costs and schedules can be found on the official website of Vietnamese Railways.

Russian citizens can stay in Vietnam without a visa for no more than 15 days.

Useful information about Da Nang

How to get around

There is no public transport in the city, there are only a few bus routes that take passengers from different points of the city to the intercity station.

A taxi option will be convenient for tourists. You can stop it on the street or order it from your hotel. Motorcycle taxis are popular; the price of a trip is approximately half the price of a regular car.

Car rent

You can rent a scooter or a car, but there is a problem with driving, since international driving licenses are not valid in Vietnam. Therefore, many tourists travel without documents.

Advice! If you decide to rent a scooter without documents, try to drive slowly and be sure to wear a helmet. This will reduce the risk of being stopped by a police officer.

Rental offices are located at almost every major hotel. The rental price per day starts from 230,000 VND for a scooter with an automatic transmission.

An alternative to a car or moped is a bicycle, which does not require permits to operate and to obtain one, it is enough to present a card of the hotel where the tourist is staying. The cost of this environmentally friendly vehicle is 100,000 VND per day.

The local cuisine is based on rice and all kinds of soups.

Rice is most often fried using coconut oil, adding vegetables, seafood or meat.

Pho soup

As for soups, the choice is quite large, but the traditional “Pho”, which is prepared with beef, is especially interesting. Or Lao, which will interest tourists not only with its amazing taste characteristics, but also with its presentation method. Essentially, a cafe visitor receives a boiling broth and all the necessary ingredients for it, which they independently send into the aromatic liquid. After 5 minutes, the whole company has the opportunity to enjoy the bright taste of the first course.

It is worth paying attention to the yield of the soup, since Pho is a portioned dish, while Lao is most often designed to be eaten by a group.

Other interesting dishes of Vietnamese cuisine include:

  • Steamed bun bao pies;
  • Spring rolls are rice paper rolls with various fillings.

In addition to all of the above, Da Nang is a great place to try various delicacies: fried insects, frog, snake or crocodile meat.

The varieties grown here, coupled with the peculiarities of roasting, give the beans a unique aroma, incomparable to coffee from other countries. In addition to traditional Arabica or Robusta, here you can buy the so-called “Kopi Lubak”, coffee made from beans that, after ripening, were eaten by the Musang animal and then collected from its excrement. This variety is believed to have an unusual taste, achieved through the action of certain enzymes in the animal's intestines;

Hotels

The Vietnamese resort offers tourists more than 200 hotels from 2 to 4 stars. According to the place of “settlement” they can be divided into hotels in the city center, located at some distance from the center and hotels near the seashore.

Hotels mainly offer BB (breakfast only) buffet meals. Living conditions, of course, depend on the number of stars.

There is a transfer from and to the airport, private parking, a range of excursions, restaurants, small souvenir shops, swimming pools and other “joys” for residents.

The beaches (almost all) are free, but you will have to pay for sunbeds, chairs, and umbrellas.
