Byala is a resort between Varna and Burgas. Holidays in Byala (Bulgaria): prices Byala Bulgaria

These are the beaches in Byala: turquoise sea, fine golden sand Byala is located almost in the middle between Burgas and Varna (75 and 55 km), you can get here from both airports, although from Varna it’s a little closer and easier, because no need to cross a mountain range. The resort belongs to the Varna region.
Byala is a small town; in winter its population is only 3 thousand people, and in summer it increases 2-3 times due to tourists and apartment owners in the numerous complexes built here. The city is famous as a winemaking center; there are many wine cellars, one of which is located right at the entrance to the city from Varna, and it is simply impossible to miss it.

History of Byala

Greek colonists settled here in the 6th century BC. and named their settlement Larissa. Then the name changed to Aspros. In 681, when the First Bulgarian Kingdom was formed, Byala became part of it. Byala became a city only in 1984.

Peculiarities

The beach in Byala is not very wide, but it is long and beautiful. The photo was taken in spring, so there is no one. The beaches in Byala are considered one of the cleanest on the entire coast due to their distance from industrial cities. However, many claim to be the cleanest. At least, despite the fact that the beaches in Byala did not receive the Blue Flag, they are very much appreciated by vacationers. Their length is more than 3 km, width - 80 meters.
The area along the beaches is called “White Rocks”. The name is quite justified: there really are rocks here, and they are really white. They became famous, first of all, for the fact that they can be used to trace the multi-million-year history of the Earth, in particular, to see the geochronological boundary of Creda-Terzier with the iridium anomaly. These traces appeared after the Earth collided with a huge asteroid, which contained an increased amount of iridium. There is a version that it was this collision that once led to the death of many species, including dinosaurs. There are only four places on the planet where traces of the anomaly can be seen. One of them is in Byala.
It takes less than an hour to get to Varna from Byala, and about an hour and a half to Burgas. Buses run regularly, about once an hour, or even more often. Obzor is just a stone's throw away.

Fortress of the late antique period

Museum in Byala. This is a kiln for firing ceramics. In the spring of 2014, a late antique fortress was opened to visitors at Cape Agios Athanas. During excavations, archaeologists discovered a church, public baths, wineries, a ceramics workshop, buildings... Some of the objects were restored, some were preserved in their original form.
The fortress was surrounded by a 1.8 m wide wall and existed from about the 6th century BC. But in 614 it was subjected to an Avar-Slavic invasion, burned and destroyed.
The cost of visiting is 5 levs, for children under 16 years old, pensioners and students – 2 levs. When visiting in a group of 10 or more people, the cost of one ticket is 3 BGN. The cost of the excursion is 10 levs.

Rest in Byala

View from Byala to the neighboring resort of Obzor - the same one where the largest disco club on the coast The cost of living in numerous hotels and apartments in Byala is slightly lower than in more famous resorts. For this reason, many stay here all summer. The town has everything you need for a relaxing, calm and quiet holiday. There may be few museums and attractions, but you can always take a walk, admire the beautiful scenery, and dine in cozy restaurants with beautiful views.
It is believed that this resort town is more suitable for families with small children and retirees than for young people. In fact, very close, in the town of Obzor, there is the largest discotheque on the coast and a bunch of other entertainment. Well, if you wish, you can get to Varna or Burgas (as well as noisy) with their vibrant nightlife.

Life in the city of Byala

The Chaika restaurant left conflicting impressions. The views are wonderful, but the meat was served half-raw. True, they immediately corrected themselves. Byala is one of the few resorts suitable for permanent residence. Of course, in winter it is not at all as lively as in summer, there are fewer people, and not all restaurants and shops are open, and in general, the mood is a little sleepy. However, life goes on, which distinguishes the resort from, for example, where it is quite dull in winter (although, according to many, this is a real paradise for introverts).
There is a kindergarten and a school here. Unfortunately, there is not much choice of educational institutions, and the nearest large city is 55 km away, and this should be taken into account by families with children who are planning to settle here. But you can always find a way out. For example, grandparents may live in Byala, and their grandchildren will come to them on weekends and holidays.
There is a lot of construction going on in the city, but Byala does not yet give the impression of being a very densely built-up resort. There is a lot of greenery and the beaches are quite spacious. Samples of apartments that can be purchased in Byala can be seen. This, of course, is not the only option, but one of the best in terms of the ratio of quality of construction, location of the house and cost of apartments.
Below in the gallery you can see other photographs we took while visiting this small town (they can be enlarged by clicking).

Not so long ago, oh Byale Almost no one heard it. And even today, Byala is still little known internationally. It is known, first of all, to lovers of secluded recreation and those who have real estate in the city.

What is especially interesting is the status of the city Byala I received it relatively recently, and before that time there weren’t even normal roads in Byala. Now the quality of the roads (at least in the city center) can be the envy of the best European “villages,” although the permanent population of the resort does not exceed 2,200 people.
