Greek colonists settled here in the 6th century BC. and named their settlement Larissa. Then the name changed to Aspros. In 681, when the First Bulgarian Kingdom was formed, Byala became part of it. Byala became a city only in 1984.

It takes less than an hour to get to Varna from Byala, and about an hour and a half to Burgas. Buses run regularly, about once an hour, or even more often. Obzor is just a stone's throw away.
Fortress of the late antique period

Of course, in winter it is not at all as lively as in summer, there are fewer people, and not all restaurants and shops are open, and in general, the mood is a little sleepy. However, life goes on, which distinguishes the resort from, for example, where it is quite dull in winter (although, according to many, this is a real paradise for introverts).
There is a kindergarten and a school here. Unfortunately, there is not much choice of educational institutions, and the nearest large city is 55 km away, and this should be taken into account by families with children who are planning to settle here. But you can always find a way out. For example, grandparents may live in Byala, and their grandchildren will come to them on weekends and holidays.
There is a lot of construction going on in the city, but Byala does not yet give the impression of being a very densely built-up resort. There is a lot of greenery and the beaches are quite spacious.
