Reviews about the resort Byala

Last summer we vacationed in Bulgaria and stopped in Byala. The impressions were very positive, we rested there for a month, of course we missed home, but we didn’t want to leave. The beach is good, sandy, a gentle entrance to the water, just right for children, the stairs to the beach are really steep, but you get used to it, after 5-6 climbs you don’t notice it anymore. It must be said that the season in the village of Byala ends on September 1st, restaurants and shops are closed, and by mid-September even the electricity in the resort area is turned off, you walk down the street and only the moon lights the way

The city of Byala is a pleasant resort town, located almost in the middle between the cities of Varna and Burgas, in the central part of the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The distance to Varna is about 55 km, the distance to the city of Burgas is about 75 km, and the nearest resort located next to Byala is the city of Obzor, the distance to it is no more than 5 km. The famous resort of Kamchia is located 30 km from Byala.
The city of Byala is administrative center community of Byala in the Varna region. The relief of the Byala community is hilly, rich in greenery with beautiful panoramas. The community includes six settlements- With. Dyulino, s. Goritsa, s. Popovich, s. Samotino, the village of Gospodinovo and the city of Byala.
Among the historical facts concerning the resort town of Byala, one can highlight, first of all, one of the unique facts such as - according to European scientists, traces of a large-scale cataclysm that destroyed the era of dinosaurs were discovered here. The first settlement on the territory of Byala arose in the fourth century BC at St. Atanas Cape, in those days it was called Aspros. In 1731, Byala was mentioned in the Ottoman register under the name Ak-Dere, and in 1984, Bala received city status by decree of the Council of Ministers.
In 1892, in the northwestern part of the city of Byala, a marble capital was discovered that was part of a Roman fortress.
From the modern life of the city, we can say that it is a small, neat and calm city with the necessary infrastructure suitable for permanent residence and for a comfortable vacation. The city has private villas and houses, small apartment buildings and residential complexes, where tourists live in the summer.
The city's beach is one of the cleanest on the Bulgarian coast and is about 3 km long, about 80 meters wide and is never crowded. There are vineyards near the city, and the city itself has a winery and tasting room. Not far from the city is the White River area - one of the wild and untouched corners in Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
The city has well-established transport links with Varna and Burgas, and the city’s location between these two cities makes it easier to get to the city from other countries - you don’t need to be tied to one airport, but you have the choice of flying to Varna or to Burgas and then minibus or take a bus to the city of Byala.
The city of Byala is a favorite place for many Russians, some of them choose it for permanent residence, and some buy real estate here - apartments and houses for summer holidays.

Helpful information

Resort description:

The town of Byala is located about fifty kilometers from the city of Varna and from the airport. Back in the VI century. BC. The first settlement arose here. It appeared on Cape St. Atanas. In the north-west, a marble capital was discovered in the city in 1892. It was part of a Roman fortress.

On the other side of the fortress there is a wall of the currently operating Church of the Holy Assumption. The city of Byala is unique and very interesting place. So here scientists discovered traces of the cataclysm that led to the destruction of the era of dinosaurs.

On the outskirts of Byala there are white rocks. They are a natural geological museum. Here it is possible to trace the periods during which the development of the earth's crust took place. Tourists are also attracted to the city by sand beach, the length of which is more than three kilometers. The width of the beach is 80 meters. Thanks to him, the city is an attractive place for family vacation in peace and quiet.

How to get there:

The city of Byala is most famous for its white rocks, which are a geological museum that allows you to trace the entire history of the development of the earth's crust. The Obzor resort is located 7 km from Byala. The local beaches are very picturesque - they are small coves with golden sand, indented by rocks. The climate here is excellent, thanks to the fact that the air in summer warms up to 26-28 degrees, and the sea - up to 25, clean mountain air - in these places the Balkan Mountains descend to the very shore of the sea.

The total length of the beaches is approximately 14 km. The Byala resort has excellent conditions for activities various types water sports: windsurfing, diving, water skiing, surfing, aquagliding, there is a small port for yachts and boats.

You can get to Byala from the nearest airport, located 53 km away in the city of Varna, by car. Buses and minibuses come here, you can also order a taxi.

Flight time from Moscow: 3

The city and its beaches are famous for its beaches, which stretch for almost 2 km and up to 50 meters wide between two capes. The sand has a golden hue and is quite clean, as the rental companies monitor this. The water is clear, the shore is not steep, so the water heats up quickly. There is no industry in the surrounding area, the air is fresh and clean. There are a lot of restaurants and cafes on the beaches and in the city.
Byala became a city after World War II, but still retained its agricultural purpose. There are many vineyards in the surrounding area and there is a wine cellar. Not far from the city, the spurs of the Stara Planina, covered with dense forests, approach the sea. The city is located on two hills rising above the sea, so its breath is felt in moderation, which is especially important outside holiday season. It is quite convenient here outside of summer time in so-called seasonal residences.

Byala (Bulgaria).
The city is located on the border of the regions of Varna and Burgas, so it can be reached by highway, either from the north of Varna (60 km) or from the south of Burgas (70 km). From Varna the drive is closer and calmer, since near Varna the highway goes mainly along the plain, then gentle mountains begin with moderate turns. The road from Burgas is laid through the spurs of the Old Planina, which come very close to the sea. Here the driver needs to be careful, since the highway mostly has 2-3 lanes, especially in the mountains, where visibility is limited in places. The highway is well maintained.
Buses run regularly between Varna and Burgas (the times indicated for Byala are from approximately 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.), the total travel time is 3 hours (respectively, to Byala - 1 hour from Varna, 2 hours from Burgas). Ticket price: from Varna – 7-10 levs, from Burgas – 10-15 levs.
There is no regular communication by sea; you can take your own yacht or boat to an equipped pier in the suburbs of Byala (the city center is another 2.5 km away).
To Byala public transport Not yet. You can call a taxi, price negotiable.

The main health benefits and treatment in Bulgaria are the healing properties of sea water, which contains many salts dissolved in it, as well as microelements, biologically active substances and vitamins. Swimming in such water enhances metabolic processes, normalizes the activity of the cardiovascular system, the functioning of the digestive organs, strengthens the nervous system, and hardens the body. Fresh and clean sea air with its iodine scent helps relieve stress, improve sleep, normalize blood pressure and saturate the body with oxygen. Warming with heated sea sand treats joint diseases and spinal osteochondrosis. The sun's rays, especially in the morning, have a general stimulating effect, help mobilize the body's protective functions, increase its resistance to colds and infectious diseases, and normalize the activity of the nervous system. In Bulgaria, they treat with healing silt mud, which heals inflammatory processes, softens and resolves scars and improves joint mobility. Also, the use of a variety of medicinal and drinking mineral waters, the sources of which are very common in the mountainous areas of Bulgaria, has a serious therapeutic effect. In general, staying in a country with good ecology, a lot of natural resources useful to humans, beautiful views to the sea, mountains, forests, have a positive effect on the body, help relieve symptoms of chronic fatigue, relieve psychological stress. People of any age (children, youth, adults and the elderly) can relax and improve their health while vacationing in Bulgaria. It is considered optimal for the manifestation of the healing effect to stay in the Bulgarian climate for at least 3 weeks, then the healing effect will last for a long time.

I understand perfectly well that the topic of moving to Bulgaria is somewhat “overheated,” but I would still like to talk about this option again.

So, I know the country well, because we have been living between Russia and Bulgaria for many years. Like most people, it all started with the usual tourist trip(standard package tour). On the first visit, it became clear that Bulgaria is a completely acceptable option for a long-term stay - excellent climate, availability of housing (both rent and purchase), natural products, practically no language barrier (at least on the Black Sea coast), a similar mentality.

We traveled a lot along the coast, combining vacation with assessing places for a potential “home port” and one day we ended up in Byala. This is a small seaside town with only 2,380 people. Already on the third day of our vacation, we realized that this is where we wanted to have our own home and decided to buy. We chose long and meticulously, got acquainted with developers and management companies. As a result, we bought an apartment with a front garden. And repeatedly later they were convinced of the correctness of their choice!

The city is located almost in the middle between the airports of Varna and Burgas, and belongs to the Varna region. It is to Varna that we go most often, since it is closer (52 km), the road has less changes. Just seven years ago, Byala was a settlement with several asphalt streets. Then the construction of apartment complexes began, archaeological excavations began (the ancient Greek city of Aspros existed on the site of Byala), and EU subsidies were allocated. Gradually the visuals change, the town becomes more and more well-groomed and civilized.

It differs very favorably from resort areas - the building density is still low, people live here all year round, there is a clinic, pharmacies, shops, a school, a library, a stadium, and gyms. Since the city is a typical Bulgarian settlement, and not a well-known resort, minimum prices for products and services have been maintained. In addition to shops, the market, fruits and vegetables can be bought in private homes, which is especially attractive - manure is still used as fertilizer here, the region is ecologically clean, tomatoes are picked from the bush, figs, grapes are cut, etc. wine is here in every home, on every table.

Very quiet and peaceful. The purest air, infused with floral aroma, tiled roofs, sea, roosters crow...

The town is hilly, hills, a beach under the rocks. A natural exercise machine, the legs are tightened quickly and unnoticed by their owners. As befits a Bulgarian settlement, the village of Byala lives in flowers. At the beginning of June it will be roses. These are the vines that grow in June next to one of the houses for rent. At the end of June the roses will fade and the petals will roll down the streets. God bless all cities with such garbage!

In the summer, to the same two thousand Bulgarians, about six thousand Russians are added, who bought apartments in complexes that are actively under construction. Since there is no party life in Byala, the entire contingent consists of families with small children and pensioners.

It is here that I can provide my child with an absolutely happy summer - a warm sea, moderate heat (and I have something to compare with, I am a native of Volgograd), high-quality products (special attention should be paid to Bulgarian dairy products), clean air (Byala is an ecologically clean region with the status biosphere reserve, protected by UNESCO), absence of tourist crowds, freedom of movement (yes, here children run around the streets without total adult supervision).

I introduced my daughter to complementary feeding using Bulgarian kiselo mlyako, then I started buying fresh milk, meat from a private meat shop, village eggs, and cheese. Natural products, sea and sun have given their results - the least ill child in kindergarten, and this is in environmentally unfavorable Moscow!

It is here that I am calm for my parents - all the above reasons, a Russian-speaking environment, the opportunity to feel at home. My opinion is shared by my friends and clients - I am officially engaged in tourism activities, I will send you on vacation not only to the Black Sea, but also to Bulgarian mineral springs, into the mountains. People come back year after year.

If we talk about holidays in Byala, then accommodation will cost from 6 euros per person per day. There are many rental options to suit any budget. For those who don’t want to cook on their own, or just want to get acquainted with Bulgarian cuisine, here is a typical menu and the cost of dishes in local prices:

  • Shishcheta - pieces of meat on a skewer 100 g 2 lv.

It takes a long time to describe salads. From 2 to 4.7 levs. The portions are gigantic.

Lev currently costs approximately 24 rubles.

More and more Russian families are staying in Byala permanently, of course, mostly pensioners. They have their own environment, leisure time, some continue to work (they are engaged in tutoring, teaching, dog breeding). So I take my daughter to preparatory classes for school with a former teacher who moved from the Yekaterinburg region, my neighbor is the vice-rector of one of the Moscow universities, who works remotely most of the time, only sometimes flying to Moscow for a short period. Another neighbor of mine is a writer and historian.

And people of active working age find employment during the season - doctors, cosmetologists, massage therapists - yes, this work cannot be called legal, nevertheless, they are provided with a clientele. There are several Russian developers in Byala, their activities are absolutely legal, they are considered the best employers.

About ecology, nature, sea. The UNESCO-protected natural site Belite Skali is located in the Gliko area. “White Rocks” is one of four places in the world where you can see traces of a gigantic cosmic cataclysm that occurred on the border of the Cretaceous and Tertiary periods, which led to the death of dinosaurs and gave a chance to the development of mammals.

And if we speak without standard encyclopedic phrases, you can quite often see dolphins, hares are still jumping along the country roads, hedgehogs are walking, turtles have been found. A young fox came to our front garden, ferrets in the tree outside the window swing on a branch in the evenings, huge snails, lizards. Stork nests, swifts, swallows. After living in a metropolis it is impressive.

We also have a wonderful private zoo in the village of Goritsa! It’s rare to see such well-groomed animals that you can also feed. The children are delighted! Ticket price for adults is 2 BGN, for children - 1 BGN.

The length of the beach in the Byala community is about 16 km, in the town itself - 3200 m. The sea is open and well cleaned. In the neighboring village of Goritsa there is one of the three preserved in Bulgaria wild beaches- Kara Dere.

Many men fish; if you wish, you can always buy fresh fish and mussels.

The holidays are celebrated very heartily! These are truly real folk festivals, with songs, feasts, and dances, when almost the entire city can gather in the square. In the summer there is an annual folklore festival, numerous concerts, performances, sports competitions, children's competitions - all this is free.

We have not yet made a final decision about moving to permanent residence. The main point that is stopping us so far is that the youngest child will go to school in 2015; they have not made a final decision on where to start studying - in Bulgaria or in Moscow. In any case, this will not be a local school in Byalenia; unfortunately, you won’t get a quality education here. Families with school-age children still travel to Varna and, as a rule, choose housing close to a decent school (and there are quite a few of them in Varna). Over the next nine months we will decide which school my daughter will go to for first grade. While we are going to a Moscow school for preparatory classes, I have established contacts in advance with Bulgarian teachers, whom I will turn to in the event of a move, so that the child can adapt faster.

If any of the forum members have children studying in Bulgarian schools, I will be very glad to hear your opinion!

So, I have no illusions about life in Bulgaria, fortunately I have not been a tourist for a long time, I work with Bulgarians. I understand perfectly well how life is like for Russians here, what kind of activities a person of working age can carry out.

Every time I leave I regret and strive to return whenever possible!
