Aeroflot airline - tariffs. Aeroflot: baggage allowance (free). Rules for the carriage of hand luggage and baggage at Aeroflot. How does promo differ from economy?

For the first time I flew in Aeroflot comfort class. Previously, I tried to fly business class for long distances, but the crisis forced me to tighten my belt. In the case of Shanghai, the math is very simple. An economy class ticket cost 25,000 rubles, a comfort class ticket cost 60,000 rubles, and a business class ticket cost 130,000 rubles. And I still remember the times when for 50,000 you could buy an Aeroflot business class in Tokyo! I will tell the children.

Here we need to make a small insert. My old rich friend Leva from New York flew to China to visit me. The same Leva who works at Google and told you about why he loves America. So, while I was saving, Leva decided to show off and flew to China first class Cathay Pacific. A ticket there, by the way, costs almost 1,300,000 rubles (one million three hundred thousand) ONE END! Yes, and no discounts. This is how ordinary employees of the evil corporation, Google, live. Leva generally loves to boo. For example, in Shanghai he rented a suite at the Park Hyatt, one of the most luxurious hotels in the city. Why in it? Firstly, the Google office is located there, and it will be convenient for Leva to go down to work in slippers after breakfast, and secondly, there are discounts for Google employees there (3%, it seems).

I’ll tell you more about Leva, who is basking in luxury, but for now, read whether it’s worth flying Aeroflot comfort class.

01. So, Aeroflot's new Boeing 777s have a comfort class cabin. It is located between business and economy classes.

Comfort passengers are not entitled to any special privileges before boarding, except perhaps an increased baggage allowance. Check-in is at the economy counters, there is no priority boarding, the business lounge will also be closed to you. So don’t flatter yourself, before the flight you will be like a mere mortal.

02. What's next? Next are the unusual chairs. This is a hard cocoon, that is, the back is fixed. This is a plus, since neighbors in front and behind will not bother you. No one will lean back on you, no one will hit you in the back.

03. There is also an increased distance between the seats, 97 cm. This is approximately the same as in economy at the emergency exit. That is, you can fully stretch your legs forward, and your knees will not rest against the front seat.

04. There is a footrest.

05. But you won’t be able to sleep normally. The seat back in the comfort class does not recline. The seat moves forward, and the back simply slides down the cocoon. Look, I completely unfolded one chair, but not the other. There is practically no difference. I would say that it is even more comfortable to sleep in economy. In addition, the armrests also do not rise, so even if you are flying in a half-empty cabin, this will not allow you to grab free seats and sleep.

06. Another plus is a very large table. It's even bigger than business class. The table can easily accommodate two trays or a laptop and a tray of food. You can put papers, a tablet, a laptop on the table and work. This is the main advantage of the comfort class.

07. Working here is a pleasure!

08. Another big plus is that there is a 220V socket and USB.

09. Workplace for 8 hours.

10. By the way, the chair is a little wider than in the economy one, 49 centimeters. In addition, there is a wide armrest between the seats, so that both passengers can use it without disturbing each other.

11. Comfort class passengers are given a welcome drink, but only water or juice. In business, champagne is added to them. By the way, on domestic flights Aeroflot began to bottle donkey urine instead of normal champagne. They found the cheapest Russian sparkling wine at 200 rubles per bottle and are trying to treat passengers with it. It's better at international ones.

12. Comfort class passengers are not entitled to an amenity kit. Instead, they only give you uncomfortable slippers and a blindfold.

13. And here is the most unpleasant thing. Alcohol is not served in comfort class! Some kind of hellish redneck of Aeroflot. That is, they give you a bottle of wine on some flights, but most comfort class flights are alcohol-free! Saved on a bottle of wine. However, you can’t even buy alcohol. I don’t understand Aeroflot’s policy at all. In business class they pour as much as you want, you can eat shit. Let’s say you don’t want to bother with a huge economy, and they don’t fill it. But why was the comfort class passengers, who paid a lot of money for the ticket, deprived of the joy of libations? European airlines provide wine or beer even in economy on short flights. But Aeroflot decided to enforce prohibition. So bring your booze with you;) It’s not for me to teach you. For this, Aeroflot receives a huge minus.

14. Shanghai flight menu

15. Looks delicious.

16. But in reality - nothing special.

17. Food is a mixture of economy and business. Appetizers and dessert are from the economy menu, but the main course is on a glass plate, just like in business class. True, they don’t give you soup) But the cutlery is metal and the napkin is normal.

18. Regular economy snacks.

19. Chicken. Quality is a C grade. In general, it is not clear why Aeroflot positions food as business class; it falls short.

At this moment I can’t help but remember Leva. They served him a jar of black caviar as a snack... It's good to work at Google.
http://levik.com/i/p/2016/cn/ca10.jpg

20. Each chair has a built-in monitor with movies and other entertainment. The films are fresh, so if you forgot to download them to your tablet, you won’t be bored on the road. There is a USB socket.

21. To summarize. In general, the comfort class turned out to be quite good. This is an improved economy. If you have a day flight and want to work normally for 8-10 hours and save money, then I would fly quietly in comfort instead of business. There are conditions for working there (except alcohol). But if the flight is at night and you want to get a good night’s sleep, then there are no alternatives to business class yet. If there is no money for business class, then I would probably take economy, there is a chance to occupy several seats if the flight is not full, and sleep well.

Any experienced traveler needs just one glance at his ticket to get comprehensive information about the flight, booking, prices and rules that apply to a particular class. However, if you do not travel very often, the abundance of tariffs can scare you and make you panic. And this is definitely not worth doing. It’s better to understand once and for all the possible classes and their rules and prices. Deciphering Aeroflot tariffs is not such a difficult task if you know the algorithm.

Please note that it does not matter where you buy your ticket (at the box office, on the website or on the agent’s resource), the main thing here is to familiarize yourself with the fare rules. They assert your rights and the rights of the carrier. They usually cover not only seat comfort, but also regulations regarding return, boarding, and so on. All this is very important if you need to exchange or return tickets. Cheap services are not the most correct selection criterion. It is worth understanding that the low price is due to only one thing - a huge number of restrictions. The cheaper the ticket, the more there are and the more inconvenient it will be in critical situations. Currently there are the following tariff classes:

  1. Promo-economy.
  2. Budget-economy.
  3. Optimum-economy.
  4. Economy status
  5. Optimum business.
  6. Status business.

For each of them, a letter encoding is also used. It’s worth taking a closer look at the most popular classes.

Promo-economy is considered the simplest and cheapest fare from Aeroflot. But there are a large number of restrictions and prohibitions. It’s difficult to call it convenient. Aeroflot calls this booking class suitable for students and budget tourists. An open return flight date is, of course, prohibited here. It is also worth knowing that the date of the return flight here, in principle, cannot be any. You need to be at your destination before the next Sunday, otherwise you simply won’t be able to fly at this fare.

However, if the flight is carried out between Russian cities, then these rules do not apply. You can stay at your destination for no more than a month for any country and city.
Aeroflot has its own bonus system. When there are enough of them, you can get a significant discount or even a free ticket. Each flight and class has its own amount. In the case of the economy promo, this is 25% miles.

Transit conditions and transfers are prohibited in this tariff, so you won’t be able to see any country along the way. It is also not allowed to upgrade your service class upon boarding.
The following return conditions apply:

  • refund of the ticket if there is more than a day left before departure - with a fee of 25 euros;
  • less than 24 hours – a fine of 25% of the ticket price and a total fee of 25 euros;
  • You cannot return your ticket right before departure.

If you are flying within Russia, you can change some flight conditions with a fine of 2000-4000 rubles, but for flights abroad it is 100 euros. For children under 2 years old, it provides a 90% discount (in Russia, flights are generally free), but if the child is over two years old, then there are no discounts at all. The exception is Russian flights within the country for children aged 2 to 12 years, then a 25% discount is given.

Economy class optimum Aeroflot: what is it?

This tariff is quite popular because, on the one hand, it is inexpensive, and on the other, there are much fewer restrictions here. Aeroflot sells this economy fare most often. Here, as in the previous case, an open departure date in the opposite direction is not allowed. However, there are no restrictions on the minimum period of stay at the destination. You can stay in the country for a maximum of six months.

The bonus miles here are a solid 150%. Transit transfers are also allowed here. You can upgrade your service class, but each flight has its own surcharge system. In case of return, the following rules apply:

  • more than a day - a fee of 25 euros, for Russian destinations - 900 rubles;
  • less than 24 hours – 25% of the total amount;
  • when landing - prohibited.

You can change flight conditions by paying a fine of 50 euros. But if you fly to America, the amount will be 100 euros. For children under 2 years old, the same discounts apply as in the case of the previous tariffs, but if a child over 2 years old travels alone, unaccompanied, then he is given 0%, and with adults - 25%.

Business status: what are the conditions for this tariff?

There are classes of Aeroflot tickets that are reserved for more presentable clients who are willing to pay many times more for a flight. But such tariffs also have many advantages. An open return flight date is allowed here. Bonus miles are 200%.

You can stay at your destination for up to a year; there is no minimum period. Transit transfers are also allowed. The rules for returning tickets are as follows:

  • more than 24 hours in advance - full refund, without any fines or surcharges;
  • in less than a day - also a full refund;
  • upon registration - full refund.

You can change flight conditions without additional payment. Children under 2 years old travel with a 90% discount (free in Russia). From two years of age a 50% discount is provided for accompanying adults.
It is noteworthy that similar conditions are provided within the economy status tariff. Almost all conditions are duplicated here, including an open return date, a year of stay at the destination and 200% bonus miles.

In the luggage compartment, the maximum permissible dimensions of one piece are 203 cm (three dimensions), weight - 23/32 kg.

Also, at no extra charge, you are allowed to carry baby strollers/chairs (in the luggage compartment or in the cabin if you plan to use them), mobility aids for people with disabilities, diving/surfing equipment and the following items (they are carried in the cabin, but are not taken into account when calculating hand luggage weight):

Comfort class passengers receive meals according to a pre-prepared menu (it is different for each destination). Each menu has 4 items: appetizer, salad, main course and dessert (you can choose from two options for the main course). Drinks are also available and alcohol can be ordered on some routes.

In Business Class, the menu is also compiled depending on the flight distance. On short-haul flights, passengers have a choice of 2 cold appetizers and 2 hot dishes. For the second meal, you can choose a snack or a hot lunch. Passengers will be offered snacks between services.

On flights lasting more than 12 hours, the menu is supplemented with another cold snack (sandwich and fruit).

Passengers can also order a special menu that suits their diet or religious beliefs. In total, there are 17 service options to choose from (including children's). Often, when choosing fares, passengers are most interested in the price and baggage allowance. If the price depends directly on the direction and date of departure, then the rules regarding baggage do not change and therefore can be considered in more detail.

Types of luggage

All baggage carried by an Aeroflot passenger on board an aircraft is divided into two types - checked baggage and hand luggage. Checked baggage is marked with a special tag indicating the final direction with all intermediate stops; the tag also marks the connection of the baggage with the ticket number, respectively, and its belonging to a specific passenger. Checked baggage is located in the luggage compartment during the flight.

Hand luggage is everything that a passenger takes with him into the cabin. Usually this is a limited in volume and weight or a suitcase and a number of additional items.

Depending on the type of baggage that a passenger on Aeroflot flights takes with him on the plane, baggage allowance may differ. In addition to the above two main types, luggage can be:

  • additional - children's luggage, children's or;
  • excess - exceeding the permitted number of pieces of luggage, weight or volume;
  • special - sports equipment, musical instruments, weapons and animals.

baggage allowance

Before delving into the regulations, it is worth noting an important point - baggage can be of two categories: free (included in the ticket price) or paid (exceeding the restrictions imposed by the selected fare). Depending on the category, transportation norms may be dictated by various circumstances and differ from each other.

It is best to check with the operator in advance about the rules of additional payment and the possibility of taking excess baggage on the plane. If the flight and aircraft are overloaded, the airline reserves the right to refuse to accept additional weight on board.

The airline operates many flights jointly with other airlines. In the case where Aeroflot is not the main operator of a code-share flight, but only a partner of another airline, the baggage rules of the operating company apply on the flight.

If a flight consists of several flights and is carried out by several airlines, not only Aeroflot, baggage allowances comply with the rules applied by the dominant air carrier on the flight. For example, if a flight consists of three flights, one of which takes 2 hours in the air and is operated by Aeroflot, another is over the ground for an hour and is operated by Turkish Airlines, and the third is operated by Lufthansa and takes 8 hours, then the luggage is an item , subject to regulatory control by Lufthansa.

Free checked baggage

The airline operates a standard plan, where the baggage allowance is 1PC. Aeroflot provides two baggage pieces (2PC) in business class and economy class only to certain destinations, including Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo, Shanghai, Yerevan and others.

One piece of checked baggage is limited in weight and volume. The maximum weight of one included baggage item for Business Class is 32 kg and for Economy Class it is 23 kg. The volume of a suitcase or bag is calculated by adding three dimensions: length, width and height. It is allowed to carry baggage that does not exceed 158 cm in total, regardless of the booking class and tariff plan.

Free hand luggage

Each Aeroflot airline passenger is allowed to take a small bag, suitcase or backpack weighing up to 10 kg into the aircraft cabin. Carrying baggage in the cabin has more stringent requirements and restrictions. For example, liquids in containers larger than 100 ml with a total volume of 1 liter cannot be carried in hand luggage; You will also have to get rid of piercing and cutting objects, such as manicure sets, office scissors and blades, and medical instruments.

The carry-on baggage limit is 115 cm for all booking classes. The maximum cabin baggage weight is 10 kg for economy class and 15 kg for business class. What, how and in what quantity can be carried in the aircraft cabin is directly influenced by Aeroflot baggage allowance. In order not to encounter unforeseen difficulties, it is best to familiarize yourself with the regulations in advance.

In addition to basic hand luggage, there are a number of things and personal items that are covered by the free baggage allowance. Aeroflot offers its passengers the opportunity to take with them on a flight a small handbag or men's bag, outerwear, a laptop computer, a photo and video camera, printed publications, an umbrella, Duty Free purchases and some other things.

Baggage allowance for children

Aeroflot distinguishes between two main categories of children: up to 2 years old and from 2 to 12 years old. Children under two years old receive a 90% discount on tickets due to the fact that they are not provided with a separate seat. Children from 2 to 12 years old occupy a full-fledged seat in the aircraft cabin; accordingly, the same baggage rules apply to them.

Many airlines provide checked baggage space for infants under 2 years of age. Aeroflot was no exception - baggage allowance for infants limits the provided baggage space to a volume of 115 cm and a weight of 10 kg. In addition to small checked luggage, the “ticket” for babies also includes hand luggage: a bag with things, a baby stroller weighing up to 12 kg, a portable cradle, the required amount of liquid formula or other baby food.

Within one class of air tickets (business or economy) there is a division by fare type. At the same time, passengers of the same class, regardless of the type of fare, receive exactly the same set of services and can take any seat in the economy class cabin. So what do those Y, B, M, H, Q, K, L, U, T on the ticket mean?

Strictly speaking, economy class fares differ in terms of ticket return and exchange, the size of the discount for children, and the validity period of the ticket. The conditions for applying the fare determine the amount of the fine for returning a ticket, the specifics of calculations when changing different sections of the route, and the ability to make changes to the route, for example, changing the passenger’s name or departure date.

Fares are indicated on tickets by letter codes. But the designation system and fare conditions differ depending on the airline.

In general, three main tariff groups can be distinguished:

In addition, some plans may have additional restrictions. Such as, for example, the ability to choose a seat in the cabin during check-in. And lastly, different amounts of bonus miles are awarded for different tariffs.

The conditions on board will be the same regardless of the chosen fare, and the price difference may vary by 7 times. So the conclusion is simple: if you are sure that plans will not change, take the cheapest tariff.
